Home Team in Caps
ANAHEIM 5, Chicago 4 (OT) – ANA leads series 3-2

BELESKEY’S OT HEROICS HELP DUCKS SURVIVE BLACKHAWKS’ RALLY
The Blackhawks scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime, but Matt Beleskey recorded the winning goal just 45 seconds into the extra period to propel the Ducks to a 3-2 series lead in the Western Conference Final.

* The Ducks moved within one victory of their third Stanley Cup Final appearance in franchise history (also 2003 and 2007).

* The Ducks improved to 11-3 this postseason, with all three losses coming in overtime. Their 14 straight games to open the playoffs without a regulation loss equals an NHL record set by the 1979 Rangers (also 11-3, with 3 OT L).

* The Ducks’ 11-3 record also is their second-best playoff start (through 14 GP) in franchise history. The 2003 club began the postseason 12-2 to make the Stanley Cup Final.

* Beleskey recorded his fourth career game-winning goal in the postseason and third this year (tied for second in the NHL w/ Nikita Kucherov). He also scored his first such goal in overtime.

* Per Elias, Beleskey’s goal (at 0:45) was the second-fastest to begin an overtime in Ducks playoff history. Steve Thomas holds the record, scoring at 0:39 of overtime in a 1-0 victory in Game 4 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Final vs. NJD.

* The Ducks opened a 3-0 lead in the first period, including the first two goals just 32 seconds apart (by Cam Fowler and Ryan Kesler). In Game 4, the Ducks scored three times in 37 seconds (by Kesler, Beleskey and Corey Perry) – the second-fasted trio of goals by any team in Stanley Cup Playoffs history.

* Fowler registered his second goal of the postseason (14 GP); he had just one goal in his first 26 career playoff appearances prior to this year. Overall, Fowler shares ninth among defensemen with 2-6—8.

* Kesler (1-1—2) notched his third multi-point game of the postseason, giving him 6-6—12 overall (14 GP). His six goals are one shy of his career high, established in 25 games with the Canucks in 2011 (7-12—19).

* Kesler also won 14-of-19 face-offs (73.7%). He ranks fourth in the NHL in face-off winning percentage this postseason (208-of-349, 59.6%).

* Ryan Getzlaf collected two assists to extend his assist/point streak to five games (0-7—7). With 2-17—19 overall (14 GP), Getzlaf also moved into first in the NHL in postseason scoring and set a Ducks franchise record for points in one playoff year, breaking the previous mark of 4-14—18 he established in 2009 (13 GP).

* Getzlaf also paces the NHL with 17 assists (a single-year franchise record), including six multi-assist efforts (another club record). Elias says the last player to post six such performances in one playoff year was Canucks captain Henrik Sedin in 2011 (6x in 25 GP).

* Sami Vatanen notched 1-1—2 for his third multi-point game of the playoffs. He is tied for second among defensemen in goals (3) and points (10) this postseason (14 GP).

* Jakob Silfverberg added two assists. He ranks second in the NHL with 12 assists and tied for sixth with 16 points this postseason (14 GP). Silfverberg had 4-2—6 in 25 career playoff outings prior to this year.

* Patrick Maroon provided the other goal, his sixth of the playoffs (14 GP) after scoring nine times during the regular season (71 GP).

TOEWS BREATHES LIFE INTO BLACKHAWKS
Trailing 4-2 with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Jonathan Toewsscored twice in 72 seconds (at 18:10 and 19:22 – both with an extra attacker) to help the Blackhawks force overtime in Game 5.

* Via Elias, it marked the fifth time in Stanley Cup Playoffs history that a team tied a game after trailing by two goals in the final two minutes of regulation – and Toews became the first player to score both goals in that instance. The last team to accomplish that feat: the Bruins in Game 7 of the 2013 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals vs. TOR (5-4 OT W).

* Toews (2-0—2) registered his sixth career multi-goal playoff game and first of this postseason. He paces the Blackhawks and shares sixth in the NHL with 7-9—16 overall (15 GP).

* Toews also posted his sixth multi-point game of this postseason. That includes two straight such performances (also in Game 4: 1-1—2).

THE LAST WORD
“Game 5 had so much, so many twists and turns and so many dramatic moments that it threatened to pop the lid off the Honda Center on Memorial Day night.” – Scott Burnside (ESPN)

LIGHTNING, RANGERS FACE OFF IN GAME 6 IN TAMPA
The Lightning and Rangers continue the Eastern Conference Final when they face off in Game 6 at Amalie Arena. Buoyed by captain Steven Stamkos, who has scored in four consecutive games (4-3—7), Tampa Bay is one win away from advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in franchise history (also 2004). New York, meanwhile, boasts a 14-3 record in its last 17 games when facing elimination (dating to Game 6 of the 2012 CQF at OTT). Henrik Lundqvist has been in net for all 17 of those contests, compiling a 1.39 goals-against average, .956 save percentage and two shutouts in that span. His counterpart, Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop, stopped all 26 shots he faced in Game 5 to earn his second career playoff shutout and improve to 11-2-0 (w/ 3 SO) in 13 career games vs. NYR (regular season and playoffs).
