KESLER PROPELS DUCKS INTO SECOND ROUND OF PLAYOFFS
Ryan Kesler scored twice in the third period, including what proved to be the game-winning goal, to power the Ducks to a four-game sweep of their First Round series against the Jets.

* The Ducks swept a best-of-seven series for the fourth time in franchise history and for the first time since the 2006 Western Conference Semifinals vs. COL. Their other two sweeps came in 2003, when they defeated the Red Wings (CQF) and Wild (CF) in four games en route to their first trip to the Stanley Cup Final.

* The Ducks fell behind 1-0 late in the opening period before Emerson Etem scored a dazzling goal to even the game prior to the first intermission. Anaheim overcame a deficit of at least one goal during each game of the series – that includes becoming the first team in NHL history to win three consecutive games of one playoff series when trailing after 40 minutes (Games 1, 2 and 3).

* Overall, the Ducks led for only 38:26 during the four games, including a total of 11:21 in the first three contests (WPG led for 68:45, clubs were tied for 138:01). Elias says38:26 is the least amount of time any team has ever led during a four-game sweep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The previous record of 40:49 was set by the Red Wings against the Ducks in the 1997 Western Conference Semifinals.

* Kesler posted his fourth career multi-goal playoff game and first since May 3, 2013 vs. SJS (w/ VAN). He also recorded his third game-winning goal in the postseason and first since doing so in consecutive outings on May 3-5, 2011 at NSH (w/ VAN).

* Kesler, who began his professional career with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL (former affiliate of VAN), totaled 3-2—5 during the four-game series; four of those points came in the final two contests at WPG (3-1—4). He also won 62-of-98 face-offs (63.3%).

* Elias says that of Kesler’s 15 career playoff goals, 10 have come in the third period (9) or overtime (1) – including all three against the Jets.

* Sami Vatanen (1-1—2) and Corey Perry (0-2—2) also registered multiple points. Perry leads all players with 3-4—7 during the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs; three other Ducks have collected at least five points (Kesler: 3-2—5, Jakob Silfverberg: 2-3—5 and Vatanen: 2-3—5).

* Frederik Andersen made 25 saves to improve to 4-0 with a 2.20 goals-against average and .924 save percentage this postseason. He had a 3.10 goals-against average and .899 save percentage during last year’s playoffs (7 GP).

* The Ducks will face the winner of the Flames-Canucks series in the Second Round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Anaheim has played both clubs one time in the postseason, defeating Calgary in seven games in the 2006 Western Conference Quarterfinals and Vancouver in five games in the 2007 Western Conference Semifinals.

2015 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS BRACKET CHALLENGE
Among the more than 800,000 entries for the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Challenge powered by Samsung, 78% picked the Ducks to win their series against the Jets – just 13% selected them to win in four games.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and actors Chloë Grace Moretz and Dave Annable were among the 13% who predicted an Anaheim sweep over Winnipeg – they sit atop the leaderboard for the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Challenge powered by Samsung.

ANDERSON, HOFFMAN HELP SENATORS STAVE OFF ELIMINATION
Craig Anderson stopped all 28 shots he faced and Mike Hoffman scored the tiebreaking goal with 10:55 remaining in regulation to help the Senators stave off elimination and force a Game 5 in their series against the Canadiens.

* The Senators forced a Game 5 when trailing 3-0 in a best-of-seven series for the second time in franchise history (in five all-time scenarios). The only other time they did so was in the 2006 Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. BUF, when they won Game 4 by a 2-1 margin before ultimately being eliminated in five contests.

* Anderson earned his third career playoff shutout and first since April 21, 2012 at NYR (41 SV). He improved to 5-2 with a 1.54 goals-against average and .957 save percentage in seven career postseason games vs. MTL.

* The Senators recorded their first playoff shutout at home since May 14, 2007, whenRay Emery made 15 saves in a 1-0 victory vs. BUF (in Game 3 of CF).

* Hoffman scored his first career postseason goal (4 GP). He led all rookies with 27 goals during the regular season, three shy of the franchise rookie record established byAlexei Yashin in 1993-94.

* Per Elias, the Senators became the second team in Stanley Cup Playoffs history to avoid being swept in a best-of-seven series with a 1-0 victory in Game 4. The only other team to do that was the 2004 Avalanche, who earned a 1-0 win behind 27 saves fromDavid Aebischer and an overtime goal from Joe Sakic in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals vs. SJS. The Sharks, however, ultimately won that series in six games.

HAYES LIFTS RANGERS TO 3-1 SERIES LEAD OVER PENGUINS
Kevin Hayes scored at 3:14 of overtime – his first career playoff goal (4 GP) – to propel the Rangers to a 3-1 lead in their First Round series against the Penguins.

* The Rangers improved to 9-1-1 in their last 11 contests vs. PIT dating to Game 5 of the Second Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They have allowed exactly one goal in all six of their head-to-head postseason wins during that span.

* Via Elias, Hayes became the first Rangers player to score his first career playoff goalin overtime since April 13, 1978 vs. BUF (Don Murdoch). He also became the third Rangers rookie to record a postseason overtime goal. The others: Alf Pike (April 2, 1940 vs. TOR) and Chris Kreider (May 23, 2013 vs. BOS).

* Hayes finished fifth among rookies with 17-28—45 during the regular season (79 GP). That included 11-18—29 in the final 36 outings of the season.

* Derick Brassard provided the tying goal late in the second period. Since joining the Rangers during the 2012-13 season, he has 12-9—21 in 21 total games vs. PIT (regular season and playoffs).

* Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves to earn his 46th career postseason win and move past Tony Esposito and Jonathan Quick for sole possession of 20th place in NHL history. Only Marc-Andre Fleury (53) has more such victories among active goaltenders.

* The Rangers improved to 12-1-0 in their last 13 road games dating to March 8 at CHI. They led the NHL and set a franchise record with 28 road victories during the regular season, tied for the second-most in League history behind the 2005-06 Red Wings (31).

* The Rangers also improved to 37-48 in 85 all-time playoff overtime games. That includes a 21-29 mark on the road

All four games in both the Senators-Canadiens and Penguins-Rangers series have been decided by one goal.

BLUES EXPLODE FOR SIX GOALS, EVEN SERIES WITH WILD
The Blues scored three times in both the first and second periods, including a highlight-reel tally by Vladimir Tarasenko, to bounce back from a 3-0 shutout loss on Monday and even their series with the Wild at two games apiece.

* The Blues posted six or more goals in a postseason game for the first time since April 10, 2003 at VAN (6-0 W). Per Elias, it marked the third time in franchise history that the Blues have won a road playoff game by at least five goals, with the other two instances both at VAN – May 17, 1995 (8-2) and April 10, 2003 (6-0).

* Tarasenko also scored during the first period, marking his second multi-goal performance of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs (other on Saturday vs. MIN: 3-0—3). Elias says he became the first Blues player to register more than one multi-goal game in the same playoff series since the 2003 Western Conference Quarterfinals vs. VAN (Doug Weight).

* ICYMI: Tarasenko notched a similar one-handed goal during the regular season, onNov. 3 at NYR.

* Kevin Shattenkirk (0-3—3) set a career high for assists in one playoff game. He also matched his single-game high for points in the postseason, established on April 19, 2014 vs. CHI (1-2—3). Overall, Shattenkirk paces all players during the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs with seven assists and shares the League lead with seven points (w/Corey Perry).

* David Backes (1-1—2) and Patrik Berglund (1-1—2) also recorded multiple points, while Ryan Reaves and Paul Stastny supplied the other goals.

* Jake Allen (17 SV) allowed two or fewer goals for the 12th consecutive game dating to March 15 at DAL. He also became the first rookie goaltender to win a playoff road game for the Blues since April 8, 1990 at TOR (Curtis Joseph).

* The Blues snapped a nine-game playoff road losing streak dating to May 3, 2012 at LAK.

NHL ANNOUNCES SELKE FINALISTS
The NHL announced that Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron, Kings forward Anze Kopitar and Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews are the three finalists for the 2014-15 Frank J. Selke Trophy, awarded “to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.”

Members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association submitted ballots for the Frank J. Selke Trophy at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters designated as finalists. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 24, during the 2015 NHL Awards from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
