DUCKS RALLY TO EDGE RED WINGS (AGAIN)
Jakob Silfverberg scored the decisive goal in the shootout to help the Ducks overcome a 2-0 third-period deficit and pick up their third consecutive victory.

* At 38-16-7 (83 points), the Ducks moved within four points of the idle Predators (40-13-7, 87 points) for first place in the NHL standings, where the top nine teams are separated by 10 points:


* Down 2-0 after 40 minutes, the Ducks posted three goals in 3:47 to take the lead before Riley Sheahan knotted the game with 3:51 remaining in regulation. Anaheim also overcame a third-period deficit in its lone other meeting with Detroit this season, a 3-2 victory on Oct. 11 at Joe Louis Arena. In that contest, Matt Beleskey tied the game early in the final frame before Ryan Getzlaf potted the winning goal with 23.6 seconds remaining in regulation.

* Silfverberg improved to 9-for-13 (69.2%) in shootouts this season; his nine such goals lead the NHL and are three more than the next-closest players. Silfverberg’s 60.9% career shootout efficiency (14-for-23) also paces all players with a minimum of 15 attempts.

* Francois Beauchemin found the back of the net for the third consecutive game (3-0—3), marking the second time in his career he has scored in three straight contests (also Oct. 17-21, 2008: 3-0—3).

* Andrew Cogliano reached the 10-goal milestone for the eighth time in as many NHL seasons. He has 4-1—5 in his past five contests.

* Making his first career shootout appearance, John Gibson (35 saves) stopped 2-of-3 attempts to earn the victory. Gibson has been in net for all three games during the team’s winning streak, improving to 9-4-0 in his NHL career.

* The Ducks improved to 26-0-7 in one-goal games this season; their 26 such wins lead the NHL. They also pace the League with 13 victories in overtime/shootouts (13-7).

* The Ducks have won a franchise-record four consecutive meetings with the Red Wings dating to Dec. 17, 2013.

SCHNEIDER BACKSTOPS DEVILS TO FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN
Cory Schneider stopped all 38 shots he faced to record his 15th career shutout (third this season) and lead the Devils to their fourth straight victory, their longest winning streak since Feb. 3-10, 2013 (5-0-0).

* The Devils have earned points in nine of their 13 games since the All-Star break (8-4-1) to move within eight points of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference:


* Schneider improved to 4-1-1 with a 0.82 goals-against average, .970 save percentage and three shutouts in six career appearances vs. ARI. His 38 saves were his second-highest total in a shutout; Schneider made 43 saves for the Canucks in a 1-0 win on March 28, 2012 vs. COL.

* Mike Cammalleri notched 2-0—2 for his fourth multi-goal game of the season and second in his past three outings (also Friday vs. VAN: 2-0—2). He paces the club with 22 goals and ranks second with 30 points.

* Scott Gomez recorded his first game-winning goal for any team since Feb. 9, 2012 at NYI (w/ MTL) and first such marker for the Devils since Jan. 13, 2007, also at NYI.

* Gomez now has 121-352—473 in his Devils career, moving past Bobby Holik (202-270—472) and into sole possession of fifth place in franchise history. Scott Niedermayer ranks fourth with 112-364—476.

* The Devils have allowed two or fewer goals in each of their past 10 home games dating to Jan. 28, going 8-1-1 in that span.

LOOSE PUCKS
Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk (2-0—2) posted his sixth multi-goal game of the season and third in his past five outings (6-4—10). He has notched consecutive multi-goal performances (2-2—4 on Saturday at DAL) for the second time in his career (also Feb. 8-10, 2009: 4-1—5) . . . Datsyuk (21-28—49 in 47 GP) reached the 20-goal milestone for the eighth time in his career and first time since 2010-11 . . . Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf collected one assist, giving him 11-26—37 in 33 career regular-season games vs. DET (7-15—22 in 20 playoff meetings) . . . Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith made 25 saves . . . Devils forward Jordin Tootoo collected one assist to extend his point streak to three games (1-2—3), his longest such run since Feb. 14-19, 2012 (0-3—3 in 3 GP w/ NSH) . . . After recording 1-1—2 on Saturday at DAL, Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall tallied his second straight multi-point game (0-2—2). He also posted consecutive multi-point performances Nov. 7-9 (1-3—4) . . . ICYMI: The Canadiens acquired forward Devante Smith-Pelly from the Ducks in exchange for forward Jiri Sekac . . . The Department of Player Safety suspended Senators defenseman Jared Cowen for three games for interference against Panthers forward Jussi Jokinen . . . Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick, Canucks captain Henrik Sedin and Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty were named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending Feb. 22.

TOP CLUBS FACE OFF IN ST. LOUIS
Two of the top teams in the NHL standings face off when the No. 3 Canadiens (38-16-5, 81 points) visit the No. 4 Blues (38-17-4, 80 points) at Scottrade Center. This marks the second and final meeting between these clubs in 2014-15; Montreal picked up a 4-1 victory in their lone other matchup on Nov. 20 at Bell Centre behind a pair of goals from Max Pacioretty. Overall, the Canadiens are 6-1-2 in their past nine games, including a 3-1 win on Saturday vs. CBJ. The Blues, meanwhile, are 4-2-0 in their last six outings, but suffered a 4-2 setback in their most recent contest on Saturday vs. PIT.

RED-HOT KINGS LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK
The Kings, winners of seven in a row, will try to stay hot when they play host to the Red Wings at STAPLES Center. Both the No. 3 seeds in their respective divisions, Los Angeles (28-18-12, 68 points) trails Vancouver (34-22-3, 71 points) by three points for second place in the Pacific Division, while Detroit (33-14-11, 77 points) sits three points back of Tampa Bay (37-19-6, 80 points) in the Atlantic. This marks the second and final meeting between these clubs in 2014-15; the Red Wings picked up a 5-2 win on Oct. 31 at Joe Louis Arena on the strength of 2-1—3 from both Pavel Datsyuk and Gustav Nyquist.

STARS TRY TO GAIN PLAYOFF GROUND AGAINST JETS
The Stars will try to gain ground in the Western Conference playoff race when they visit the Jets at MTS Centre. Currently on the outside of the postseason picture, Dallas (27-24-9, 63 points) trails Minnesota (31-21-7, 69 points) by six points for the final Wild Card berth in the conference. Winnipeg (30-20-11, 71 points) occupies the first Wild Card spot and also sits eight points ahead of Dallas in the Central Division. This marks the fourth and final meeting between these clubs in 2014-15; the Jets have won two of the first three, but the Stars posted a 5-2 victory in their most recent matchup on Jan. 31 in Manitoba.
