RAKELL, VATANEN POWER DUCKS’ COMEBACK
On a night when his club honored Teemu Selanne, fellow countryman Sami Vatanen (Jyväskylä, Finland) scored in the sixth round of the shootout – on his first career attempt – to lift the Ducks to their third victory in their past four outings.

* At 27-10-6 (60 points), the Ducks tied the idle Predators (28-9-4, 60 points) – in terms of points – for the top spot in the NHL standings. Nashville, however, holds two games in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (NSH: 24, ANA: 21).

* Down 4-2 after 40 minutes, Rickard Rakell (2-2—4) earned the primary assist on Kyle Palmieri’s goal at 6:25 of the third period and then scored the tying marker with 2:03 remaining in regulation. He added another goal in the fourth round of the shootout to keep the game alive.

* With his performance, Rakell tied a Ducks record for most points by a rookie in one game, established by Stanislav Chistov on Oct. 10, 2002 at STL (1-3—4) and equaled by Ryan Getzlaf on March 24, 2006 vs. NSH (0-4—4).

* Rakell, who entered Sunday with 1-11—12 in 53 career appearances, also notched his first multi-point game.

* Palmieri (1-1—2) posted his 11th career multi-point performance and second of the season (also Dec. 5 at MIN: 0-2—2).

* Frederik Andersen made 28 saves – and denied four shootout attempts – to pick up his 23rd win of the season, moving into sole possession of second place in the NHL. He also improved to 43-11-5 in his first 59 NHL decisions; Elias says it marks the best start by any goaltender since Bill Durnan earned his 43rd victory in his 57th career decision for the Canadiens in November 1944.

* The Ducks swept their three-game season series with the Jets and picked up their fourth straight head-to-head win dating to March 31, 2014.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Ducks set an NHL record for the most consecutive home victories by a one-goal margin (discounting losses or ties), with 11 in a row: five in regulation, two in overtime and four via the shootout.

* The Ducks improved to 21-0-6 overall in one-goal games this season; their 21 such victories pace the NHL, while their .778 winning percentage in such games ranks second.

* Eighteen of the club’s last 20 victories have been by one goal dating to Dec. 18 at MTL.

* The Ducks posted 12 straight one-goal wins from Oct. 28 – Dec. 10, the longest such streak in the NHL since the Thrashers had a 14-game run in 2010-11.

* Since the beginning of the 2012-13 season, the Ducks have compiled a 62-6-20 record in one-goal games, owning the top record in the NHL by points percentage (.818).

BICKELL, BLACKHAWKS CONTINUE DOMINANCE OF WILD
Five different players registered multi-point games – including 1-1—2 from Bryan Bickell – to lead the Blackhawks to their fourth straight regular-season victory over the Wild dating to April 3, 2014 (3-0-0 in 2014-15).

* At 28-13-2 (58 points), the Blackhawks moved within two points of the idle Predators (28-9-4, 60 points) for the top spot in the Central Division and NHL standings. Nashville, however, holds two games in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (NSH: 24, CHI: 23).

* Bickell recorded the game-winning goal against the Wild for the second time in less than one week (also Jan. 8 at MIN: 2-0—2). He has 3-1—4 in three outings vs. MIN this season.

* Bickell has 5-2—7, including three multi-point performances, in his past seven contests overall. He had 4-7—11 in his first 36 appearances of the season (one multi-point game).

* Marian Hossa (1-1—2), Brad Richards (1-1—2), Patrick Kane (0-2—2) and Jonathan Toews (0-2—2) also collected multiple points.

* Hossa, who turns 36 today, scored his 473rd career goal, moving into a tie with Alexander Mogilny and Denis Savard for 50th place in NHL history.

* With 20-27—47 in 43 appearances this season, Kane moved within three points of Jakub Voracek (16-34—50 in 42 GP) for the League lead in scoring.

* Corey Crawford made 36 saves, plus a penalty-shot denial of Jason Zucker in the middle frame, to improve to 17-8-2 in 27 starts this season.

LUONGO, PANTHERS CONTINUE SUCCESSFUL ROAD TRIP
Roberto Luongo recorded 31 saves to help the Panthers improve to 4-1-0 on their six-game road trip, including consecutive wins at Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

* At 20-11-9 (49 points), the Panthers moved within one point of the idle Bruins (22-15-6, 50 points) for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Florida holds three games in hand, but Boston owns the ROW tiebreaker (BOS: 20, FLA: 15).

* Elias says the Panthers are off to their best start to the season since 1999-00, when they went 23-11-6 (52 points) through their opening 40 games.

* Luongo improved to 8-1-1 in his past 10 decisions dating to Dec. 12. He also earned his 390th career win, moving past Dominik Hasek and into sole possession of 11th place in NHL history.

* Sean Bergenheim, Brian Campbell, Jimmy Hayes and Tomas Kopecky found the back of the net. Jussi Jokinen (0-2—2) added his fifth multi-point performance of the season.

* Per Elias, this marks the seventh time in franchise history the Panthers have won three straight games on one road trip. The last time they accomplished that feat was Dec. 15-19, 2013 (at MTL, TOR and OTT).

* The Panthers picked up their first victory over the Oilers since Dec. 11, 2008, snapping a five-game skid in the head-to-head series (0-2-3).
