DUCKS EDGE PREDATORS IN BATTLE OF TOP WESTERN CLUBS . . .
In a matchup of the top two teams in the Western Conference, Francois Beauchemin scored the tying goal with 2:17 remaining in regulation and Ryan Kesler potted the decisive marker in the third round of the shootout to lead the Ducks past the Predators.

* At 26-9-6 (58 points), the Ducks extended their lead in the Western Conference and NHL standings, moving four points ahead of the Predators, Blackhawks, Canadiens and Lightning. They also tied the Blackhawks, Canadiens and Islanders for the most wins this season.

* The Ducks improved to 12-3-1 in their past 16 games, including a 3-1-0 mark to begin their season-long eight-game homestand. They also improved to 20-0-6 in one-goal games; their 20 such victories lead the NHL, while their .769 winning percentage ranks second (behind NYI: 17-2-1, .850).

* Frederik Andersen made 27 saves – and denied two attempts in the tiebreaker – to pick up his 42nd career win in 58 NHL decisions (42-11-5). Per the Ducks, it marks the best start by any goaltender since Bill Durnan of the Canadiens earned his NHL-record 42nd career win in 55 decisions on Nov. 9, 1944.

* Kesler improved to 14-for-53 (26.4%), with six game-deciding goals, in his shootout career. That includes a pair of decisive markers this season (also Nov. 12 vs. LAK).

* Jakob Silfverberg also connected in the tiebreaker and leads the NHL with six shootout goals this season (6-for-9, 66.7%). He improved to 11-for-19 all-time in tiebreakers, ranking second among active skaters with a 57.9% career efficiency (minimum 10 attempts).

* Matt Beleskey added his team-leading 17th goal of the season, tied for ninth in the NHL. Corey Perry posted his 15th marker and first since returning from injury on Dec. 31.

* Ryan Getzlaf collected one assist, giving him 5-10—15 over his past 11 outings. He ranks third in the NHL in both assists (31) and points (44) in 40 appearances this season.

* The Ducks improved to 6-1-0 in their last seven meetings with the Predators dating to Jan. 26, 2013.

. . . SHARP, BLACKHAWKS KEEP PACE WITH OT WIN
Patrick Sharp scored at 1:17 of overtime to help the Blackhawks rally from four separate one-goal deficits and improve to 14-3-1 in their past 18 outings.

* At 26-11-2 (54 points), the Blackhawks moved into a tie – in terms of points – with the Predators (25-9-4, 54 points) for the top spot in the Central Division. Nashville, however, holds one game in hand.

* Via Elias, the last time the Blackhawks rallied for a victory when facing four separate one-goal deficits was on Dec. 23, 1970, when they posted a 6-4 win at LAK.

* Sharp (1-1—2) notched his eighth career overtime goal (all w/ CHI) and first since April 9, 2014 vs. MTL. He has 3-2—5 during a four-game point streak.

* Marian Hossa and Duncan Keith both collected two assists. Hossa stretched his point streak to five contests (2-4—6).

* Patrick Kane added his team-leading 19th goal of the season, tied for sixth in the NHL. The Blackhawks are 13-2-0 when he finds the back of the net.

* The Blackhawks improved to 11-1-0 in their last 12 meetings with the Stars dating to March 16, 2012, including five straight wins.

DID YOU KNOW?
Brothers Jamie and Jordie Benn scored for the Stars in their overtime loss to the Blackhawks, marking the first time they both have found the back of the net in the same game.

* Per Elias, the Benns are the fifth pair of brothers to record goals in the same game for the Stars/North Stars franchise. The others: Bryan Jr. and Dennis Hextall, Aaron and Neal Broten (3x), Neal and Paul Broten (4x), and Derian and Kevin Hatcher (last to do so: Feb. 24, 1996 at TOR).

* The only set of brothers – besides the Benns – to score in the same game this season are Canucks forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin, who did so on Oct. 24 at COL.

JOHNSON POWERS LIGHTNING PAST SENATORS
Tyler Johnson scored twice, including the tying and insurance markers, to power the Lightning to their fifth victory in their past six starts.

* At 25-12-4 (54 points), the Lightning moved into a tie – in terms of points – with the idle Canadiens (26-11-2, 54 points) for first place in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. Montreal, however, holds two games in hand.

* Johnson registered his fourth multi-goal game of the season and first since notching his second career hat trick on Dec. 23 vs. PIT. He leads the Lightning and shares fourth in the NHL with 15-28—43 in 40 games this season, including 2-4—6 in his past three outings.

* Via Elias, Johnson now has 5-2—7 in four career games at OTT, with at least one point in each contest.

* At 20-11-7 (47 points), the Capitals leapfrogged the idle Rangers (21-11-4, 46 points) for third place in the Metropolitan Division.

* Ovechkin notched 1-1—2 for the third straight game, marking the first time he has posted three consecutive multi-point games since March 21-24, 2013 (4-3—7 in 3 GP). He also tallied his team-leading 19th goal of the season, tied for sixth in the NHL, and has 7-6—13 in his past 12 outings.
