ZIBANEJAD, KARLSSON POWER SENATORS RALLY
Down 3-0 midway through the second period, the Senators scored four unanswered goals – highlighted by 2-2—4 from Mika Zibanejad and the overtime winner from Erik Karlsson – to snap a five-game skid (0-4-1).

* Per Elias, the Senators overcame a three-goal deficit to win for the first time since Dec. 30, 2011, when they trailed the Flames 3-0 after the opening period but came back for a 4-3 overtime victory. Karlsson registered 1-1—2 in that contest, including the tying goal early in the third period and primary assist on Daniel Alfredsson’s overtime winner.

* Zibanejad recorded his first career multi-goal game, including the tying tally, and also established a career high with four points, including the primary assist on Karlsson’s overtime winner.

* Karlsson posted his first career overtime goal at 1:21 of the extra frame. He paces the club with 7-13—20 in 27 games this season, which also is tied for sixth among NHL defensemen.

* Four other defensemen currently lead their teams in points: Arizona’s Keith Yandle (3-16—19 in 28 GP), Calgary’s Mark Giordano (7-21—28 in 28 GP), Colorado’s Tyson Barrie (3-17—20 in 27 GP) and Florida’s Aaron Ekblad (tied; 4-13—17 in 25 GP).

* Bobby Ryan matched a career high with three assists, achieved three previous times (most recently April 3, 2012 at VAN: 0-3—3 w/ ANA).

* David Legwand sparked the Senators’ rally with a power-play goal in the middle frame. ICYMI: The team honored Legwand before the game for appearing in his 1,000th NHL contest Nov. 29 at TBL.

* The Senators earned their first home victory against the Canucks since Feb. 4, 2010, snapping a three-game skid.

PALMIERI LIFTS DUCKS IN OVERTIME
Kyle Palmieri scored 53 seconds into overtime to power the Ducks to their fourth consecutive victory, their second such winning streak of the season (also Oct. 11-24: 7-0-0).

* With the win, the Ducks (18-6-5, 41 points) became the first team to reach 40 points this season and also moved into sole possession of the top spot in the NHL standings.

* Each of the Ducks’ last 11 wins has been by one goal, including five decided in extra time (2 in OT, 3 in SO). They improved to 14-0-5 in one-goal games this season; their 14 such victories lead the League, while their .737 winning percentage ranks third.

* Palmieri recorded his second career overtime goal. His other: Dec. 20, 2013 at NJD.

* Ryan Getzlaf collected 0-3—3 for his 10th multi-point game and second three-point performance of the season (also Nov. 29 at SJS: 1-2—3). He also extended his assist/point streak to five games (2-8—10).

* Getzlaf leads the Ducks and is tied for sixth in the NHL with 8-21—29 in 28 games this season. His 21 assists also share third in the League.

* Cam Fowler posted one assist to stretch his point streak to a career-long five games (1-4—5).

DATSYUK, TATAR PROPEL RED WINGS
Pavel Datsyuk posted 1-2—3 and Tomas Tatar added 2-0—2, including the decisive and insurance goals, to lead the Red Wings to their third consecutive victory and seventh win in their past eight outings.

* At 17-6-5 (39 points), the Red Wings moved into a tie with the Lightning (18-7-3, 39 points) for the top spot in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. Tampa Bay, however, owns the ROW tiebreaker (17 to 16).

* Datsyuk registered his second three-point performance of the season (also Oct. 31 vs. LAK: 2-1—3). He also posted his fifth multi-point game in his past seven outings, totaling 7-4—11 in that stretch.

* Despite missing 11 games, Datsyuk is tied for first on the Red Wings with 12 goals this season and also ranks second with 22 points in 17 contests.

* Tatar collected his third game-winning goal in the last 11 contests, equaling his total from 117 prior career outings. He also extended his point streak to five games (3-4—7).

* Making just his third appearance of the season, Petr Mrazek stopped a career-high 34 shots to improve to 3-0-0 with a 2.59 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.

* The Red Wings improved to 7-2-0 in their last nine meetings with the Hurricanes dating to Dec. 9, 2007.

PERRON HELPS OILERS SNAP SKIDS
Knotted at 1-1, David Perron scored the tiebreaking goal with 9:34 remaining in regulation to help the Oilers snap their 11-game skid (0-7-4).

* The Oilers also picked up their first home victory since Oct. 27, halting an eight-game losing streak at Rexall Place (0-7-1), and first win over a Western Conference opponent since the 2013-14 season finale (April 12 vs. VAN).

* Perron registered his 15th career game-winning goal and first since Dec. 23, 2013 vs. WPG. He also stretched his point streak to four games (2-2—4).

* Nail Yakupov added his fourth goal of the season and first since Nov. 11 at NSH, ending a 10-game drought.

* Ben Scrivens made 20 saves to pick up his first win since Oct. 27 vs. MTL and snap his personal losing streak at nine games (0-6-3 in 10 GP dating to Oct. 29 vs. NSH).

* The Oilers earned their second victory in their last 10 meetings with the Sharks dating to March 12, 2012 (2-6-2).

LOOSE PUCKS
Jets teammates Andrew Ladd and Jacob Trouba both posted 1-1—2. Trouba now has 2-3—5 over his past three games . . . Sharks forward Patrick Marleau collected one assist to extend his point streak to five games (1-6—7) . . . Jets forward/defenseman Dustin Byfuglien found the back of the net for the fourth consecutive game (4-1—5), matching his longest such streak set Nov. 15-21, 2013 (5-2—7) . . . Canucks forward Radim Vrbata (1-1—2) scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season . . . Forward Rene Bourque potted his first goal since joining the Ducks (1-1—2 in 8 GP) . . . Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock earned his 501st career victory, tying Pat Burns for 17th all-time . . . Hurricanes forward Andrej Nestrasil, who recorded 0-2—2 in 13 GP with the Red Wings before being claimed on waivers Nov. 20, logged a +1 rating in his first appearance against his former club. Head coach Bill Peters also faced the Red Wings for the first time since taking over behind the Carolina bench; Peters served as an assistant coach in Detroit for the past three seasons . . . Jets forward Mathieu Perreault, who totaled 18-25—43 in 69 GP with the Ducks last season, posted one assist in his first game against his former team . . . ICYMI: The Hurricanes paid tribute to U.S. Army Special Forces Sgt. 1st Class Michael A. Cathcart, who skated with the team during a special practice at Fort Bragg, N.C., last season and passed away in November due to injuries sustained during combat operations.

RANGERS TRY TO STAY HOT AGAINST PENGUINS
The Rangers, losers of two straight and three of their past five, will try to end their recent woes when they play host to the Penguins at Madison Square Garden. This marks the third of four meetings between these clubs in 2014-15; New York is 1-0-1 thus far, including a 5-0 win Nov. 11 on home ice. The Rangers also have earned at least one point in seven of their last eight regular-season games against the Penguins dating to April 3, 2013 (4-1-3). Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has won five of its past seven overall contests and leads the Metropolitan Division with 38 points this season (18-6-2). The final regular-season meeting between these teams will take place Jan. 18 at PIT.
