HOSSA POWERS BLACKHAWKS TO DIVISION LEAD
Marian Hossa snapped a six-game scoring drought with a pair of markers, including the game-winning goal, to power the Blackhawks to their sixth consecutive victory.

* With the win, the Blackhawks (18-8-1, 37 points) leapfrogged the Predators (17-7-2, 36 points) for the top spot in the Central Division. They have won two of their first three meetings with Nashville this season; these clubs face off one more time in 2014-15, Dec. 29 at CHI.

* Hossa posted his 78th career multi-goal game and first since Jan. 17, 2014 vs. ANA (2-0—2). Per Elias, his 78 multi-goal games rank fourth among active players, behind only Jaromir Jagr (120), Jarome Iginla (103) and Alex Ovechkin (89).

* Scott Darling made 32 saves, including 12 in the third period, to improve to 3-1-0 with a 1.74 goals-against average and .943 save percentage in four career NHL appearances.

* Brandon Saad (1-1—2) posted his fourth multi-point game of the season to stretch his point streak to four contests (3-2—5).

* The Blackhawks improved to 9-1-0 in their past 10 games; they have allowed 19 total goals during that stretch and lead the NHL in goals against per game this season (1.96).

BRODEUR, BLUES RALLY PAST ISLANDERS . . .
Down 3-0 after the first period and 4-3 after 40 minutes, the Blues scored three unanswered goals in the final frame to snap a two-game skid.

* At 17-8-2 (36 points), the Blues kept pace with the Blackhawks (18-8-1, 37 points) for the top spot in the Central Division and also moved into a tie with the Predators (17-7-2, 36 points) for second place.

* The Blues overcame a three-goal deficit to win in regulation for the first time since Oct. 21, 2003 at EDM. They trailed the Oilers 3-0 in that game, but picked up a 6-4 victory behind 0-3—3 from Chris Pronger.

* Called into to duty to start the second period, Martin Brodeur made 14 saves to record his 689th NHL victory and first with a team other than the Devils. Elias says it marked just the 16th relief appearance of Brodeur’s 1,261-game career and first since Jan. 8, 2011 at PHI. He has earned a decision in nine of those 16 appearances, including five victories (5-3-1).

* Kevin Shattenkirk (1-2—3) and Joakim Lindstrom (0-3—3) both posted three-point performances, equaling and establishing career highs for points in one game, respectively.

* Paul Stastny snapped a five-game scoring drought with a pair of goals, including the decisive tally midway through the third period. It marked his first multi-goal game since joining the Blues and first overall since April 10, 2014 at VAN (2-0—2 w/ COL).

* The Blues recorded their fourth consecutive victory over the Islanders dating to Feb. 16, 2012, and picked up their second straight multi-goal comeback win on Long Island. They trailed 2-0 and 3-2 in their last trip to Nassau Coliseum Jan. 25, 2014, before posting a 4-3 victory on the strength of shootout goals by Alexander Steen and Shattenkirk.

. . . EHRHOFF LIFTS PENGUINS BACK INTO FIRST
Knotted at 2-2 after two periods, Christian Ehrhoff scored the tiebreaking goal with 1:50 remaining in regulation to lift the Penguins to their third victory in their past four outings.

* With the win, the Penguins (18-6-2, 38 points) leapfrogged the Islanders (19-8-0, 38 points) to reclaim first place in the Metropolitan Division. They also moved within one point of the Lightning (18-7-3, 39 points) and Ducks (17-6-5, 39 points) for the top spot in the NHL standings.

* Ehrhoff has recorded the game-winning goal in two of the club’s past three victories (also Nov. 29 at CAR). Since 2009-10, he leads all NHL defensemen with 15 game-winning scores.

* Evgeni Malkin (2-0—2) posted his second multi-goal game of the season, including his League-leading eighth power-play marker. He paces the club with 14 overall goals and is tied for fourth in the NHL with 32 points in 26 outings.

* Sidney Crosby collected the primary helper on Ehrhoff’s winner to reclaim sole possession of the League lead in assists (25). He also ranks second with 34 points in 26 games this season.

* Craig Adams played in his 314th consecutive game (dating to Oct. 18, 2010 vs. OTT), breaking Ron Schock’s record for the longest ironman streak in franchise history.

BABCOCK REACHES MILESTONE IN RED WINGS VICTORY
Down 2-0 less than 15 minutes after the opening face-off, the Red Wings scored three unanswered goals – including Darren Helm’s tiebreaking marker at 7:40 of the third period – to pick up their sixth win in their last seven games.

* With the victory, the Red Wings (16-6-5, 37 points) moved within two points of the Lightning (18-7-3, 39 points) for the top spot in the Atlantic Division and NHL standings. Detroit also holds one game in hand.

* Mike Babcock became the 19th head coach in NHL history to reach the 500-win milestone. He accomplished the feat in his 895th game behind the bench (500-280-115); only Scotty Bowman has reached the milestone faster (825 games).

* Stephen Weiss collected an assist for the third consecutive game (1-4—5). He has 4-6—10 in eight total outings this season, two more points than his combined total from the past two campaigns (3-5—8 in 43 GP).

* The Red Wings earned their first victory over the Rangers since Feb. 7, 2011, snapping a five-game skid (0-2-3). They also improved to 11-3-2 at Joe Louis Arena this season and lead the League with 24 home points.

MARLEAU LEADS SHARKS OVER FLAMES
Tied at 2-2 after two periods, Patrick Marleau potted the decisive goal with 10:42 remaining in regulation to power the Sharks to their season-high fourth consecutive victory.

* Marleau scored his first goal since Nov. 20 vs. FLA, snapping a five-game drought, and extended his point streak to four games (1-5—6). He also recorded his 85th career game-winning goal, which ranks third among active players behind Jaromir Jagr (125) and Jarome Iginla (92).

* Justin Braun (1-1—2), Logan Couture (1-1—2) and Tommy Wingels (0-2—2) added multi-point performances. Wingels now has 3-6—9 during a four-game point streak.

* Antti Niemi made 33 saves, including 14 in the third period, to pick up his fourth straight victory – the first time he has achieved that feat since March 6-16, 2014 (5-0-0).

* The Sharks improved to 5-2-1 in their last eight meetings with the Flames dating to April 5, 2013.

ENOUGH OF THAT
Several clubs halted losing streaks Saturday:

* Steve Mason made 37 saves, including 30 over the final two periods, to help the Flyers snap their six-game skid (0-4-2). They also picked up their first road victory since Oct. 22 at PIT, ending a nine-game losing streak (0-7-2). Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds both found the back of the net to power the Flyers to their eighth victory in 10 all-time visits to STAPLES Center since the building opened in 1999-00 (8-1-1).

* Tyler Seguin (2-1—3) scored his League-leading 20th and 21st goals of the season, including the game-winner, to help the Stars halt their four-game slide (0-3-1). Per Elias, this marks only the second time a Stars/North Stars player has been the first to reach 20 goals in a given season. The other instance: Dino Ciccarelli in 1986-87. Seguin also moved into first place in points (35) and a tie for the most game-winning goals (4) in 2014-15.

* Three players – Brad Marchand (2-0—2), Dougie Hamilton (0-2—2) and Reilly Smith (0-2—2) – posted multi-point games to help the Bruins end their three-game skid (0-3-0). Simon Gagne added his 53rd career game-winning goal and first since Nov. 8, 2011 vs. NSH (w/ LAK). The Bruins picked up their fifth consecutive victory over the Coyotes dating to Oct. 10, 2010, when they faced off in the NHL Premiere in Prague, Czech Republic.

AROUND THE RINKS
Highlights from the rest of Saturday’s action:

* Nick Bjugstad (1-1—2) scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period and Aaron Ekblad collected a career-high three assists/points to lift the Panthers to their fourth victory in their past six outings (4-1-1) and fifth straight win over the Sabres. After being held without a goal in his first 10 contests of the season, Bjugstad now has 11-5—16 in his past 15 games. Ekblad became just the second rookie defenseman in Panthers history to record three points in one game, following Dan Boyle on Feb. 24, 1999 vs. PHI (1-2—3). Elias also says Ekblad is third 18-year-old defenseman in the past 30 seasons to register three assists in one game, joining Anaheim’s Oleg Tverdovsky (Jan. 23, 1995 vs. EDM: 0-3—3) and Atlanta’s Zach Bogosian (Feb. 16, 2009 at LAK: 0-3—3).

* Jonathan Bernier made a season-high 44 saves, four shy of his career high, to lead the Maple Leafs to their fifth victory in their past seven starts (5-1-1). David Clarkson, Peter Holland and Joffrey Lupul all collected 1-1—2. Holland set a career high with his second game-winning goal of 2014-15 (26 GP) and also matched single-season highs for goals (6), assists (5) and points (11) – all established in 2013-14 (43 GP). The Maple Leafs improved to 11-0-0 when scoring first; the Canadiens are the only other team yet to suffer a loss when scoring first this season (9-0-0).

* After making a career-high and franchise-record 52 stops Thursday, Sergei Bobrovsky posted 33 saves to backstop the Blue Jackets to their first three-game winning streak of the season. Boone Jenner found the back of the net for the third straight game (3-0—3), the first time he has achieved that feat in his career, and David Savard chipped in his second career game-winning goal (also Dec. 12, 2013 at NYR). The Blue Jackets picked up their second all-time win in Tampa Bay and first since Jan. 2, 2004 (2-5-2).

* Knotted at 1-1 after 20 minutes, the Capitals scored three unanswered goals to record their second straight victory. Braden Holtby made 33 saves, including 15 in the third period, and both Brooks Laich (1-1—2) and Joel Ward (0-2—2) registered multi-point games to surpass 300 and 200 NHL points, respectively. The Capitals earned their first win in New Jersey since Nov. 11, 2011, snapping a four-game skid (0-2-2).

Islanders goaltender Jaroslav Halak (34 saves) suffered his first loss since Nov. 1 at SJS, halting his career-high and franchise-record winning streak at 11 games . . . Flames goaltender Karri Ramo (27 saves) also saw his career-long winning streak snapped at six games . . . The Predators suffered their first loss at Bridgestone Arena since Oct. 25 vs. PIT, ending their seven-game home winning streak . . . Stars forward Shawn Horcoff (900), Stars forward Travis Moen (700) and Lightning forward Brett Connolly (100) all played in milestone games . . . Canadiens forward Sven Andrighetto and Coyotes forward Jordan Martinook both made their NHL debuts. Andrighetto also scored his first goal on his first shot . . .
