STASTNY POWERS BLUES IN CENTRAL DIVISION SHOWDOWN
Knotted at 3-3, Paul Stastny scored the tiebreaking goal with 5:54 remaining in regulation to lift the Blues to their ninth victory in their last 10 outings. With the win, St. Louis (11-4-1, 23 points) leapfrogged Nashville (10-4-2, 22 points) for the top spot in the Central Division.

* Stastny recorded his 25th career game-winning goal and first since April 5, when he posted 1-2—3 to lead the Avalanche to a 4-0 victory at STL.

* The “STL Line” – the trio comprised of Jaden Schwartz (0-1—1), Vladimir Tarasenko (1-1—2) and Jori Lehtera (0-2—2) – combined for 1-4—5 and now has 16-22—38 over the team’s past 10 games.

* Tarasenko posted his seventh multi-point game of the season to stretch his point streak to a career-long seven games (6-6—12). He now has 10-11—21 in 16 outings this season, tied for fourth in NHL scoring with Phil Kessel (10-11—21 in 16 GP).

* Lehtera registered his second consecutive multi-point performance (following 3-0—3 Tuesday vs. BUF) to extend his point streak to six games (4-6—10). He now has 6-10—16 through his first 15 NHL contests.

* Schwartz pushed his assist/point streak to five games (1-7—8), his longest such stretch since an eight-game run Dec. 19, 2013 – Jan. 4, 2014 (7-3—10).

* T.J. Oshie added his first goal of the season in his first appearance following a seven-game absence.

* Jake Allen made 22 saves to improve to 5-1-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average, .933 save percentage and two shutouts in six appearances this season.

* After suffering a 2-1 loss to the Predators Sunday, the Blues now have won 11 of their last 13 meetings dating to Feb. 23, 2012. These clubs will face off three more times in 2014-15: Dec. 4 at NSH, Dec. 30 at NSH and Jan. 29 at STL.

FORSBERG STAYS HOT FOR NASHVILLE
Despite the loss, Filip Forsberg continued to stay hot for the Predators. The 20-year-old rookie factored on all three of the team’s goals (1-2—3) to extend his point streak to seven games (7-6—13). He also found the back of the net for the sixth consecutive outing, the longest such streak by any player this season.

* Per Elias, Forsberg is the first rookie to register a six-game goal streak since Feb. 5-15, 2011, when Michael Grabner scored in six straight with the Islanders (10-3—13). Only two other active players have posted goal streaks of at least six games during their rookie seasons: Alex Ovechkin in 2005-06 (2x, 7 and 6 games) and Evgeni Malkin in 2006-07 (6 games).

* Forsberg leads all rookies – and is tied for sixth in the NHL – with 20 points in 16 games this season. He also paces the League with a +19 rating.

* Forsberg also leads all rookies in goals (8), assists (12), power-play points (5) and shots on goal (50).

NIEDERREITER’S HAT TRICK PROPELS WILD
Nino Niederreiter registered his first career hat trick (and first career multi-goal game in the regular season) to help the Wild snap a four-game skid.

* At 22 years, 66 days, Elias says Niederreiter is the second-youngest player in Wild history to post a hat trick. Marian Gaborik collected his first hat trick at age 19 and recorded seven three-goal games before his 23rd birthday.

* Niederreiter also matched a career high for points in one game. He tallied 0-3—3 Nov. 3, 2013 vs. NJD.

* Four other Wild players had multi-point performances: Kyle Brodziak (1-1—2), Ryan Carter (1-1—2), Charlie Coyle (0-2—2) and Justin Fontaine (0-2—2). Eleven total Minnesota skaters found the scoresheet.

* The Wild improved to 6-1-0 this season at Xcel Energy Center, where they have outscored opponents 28-13.

* The Wild now have won three straight meetings with the Sabres dating to Oct. 14, 2013.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Wild and Sabres combined for three goals in 17 seconds during the first period: Ryan Carter scored at 6:07, Nino Niederreiter at 6:14 and Zemgus Girgensons at 6:24.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it marked the fastest combined three goals in both Wild and Sabres history. Minnesota’s previous such record was 35 seconds (Dec. 28, 2002 at BUF), while Buffalo’s was 18 seconds (Feb. 1, 1976 at CAL).

* The two goals in seven seconds – by Carter and Niederreiter – fell four seconds shy of the Wild franchise record established Jan. 21, 2004, when Jim Dowd and Richard Park found the back of the net three seconds apart in a 4-2 win vs. CHI.

GIORDANO CONTINUES TO IGNITE FLAMES
Deadlocked at 3-3 late in the second period, Mark Giordano registered the tiebreaking goal to lead the Flames to their fifth victory in their last seven outings.

* Giordano now has 5-8—13 during an eight-game point streak, one shy of his personal record set Jan. 14 – Feb. 1 (4-6—10).

* Giordano leads all defensemen in goals (6-tied), assists (14) and points (20) in 18 games this season. Via Elias, he is the fastest Flames defenseman to reach 20 points since 1993-94, when Al MacInnis also hit the milestone in Calgary’s 18th game of the season (6-14—20).

* Jonas Hiller made 20 saves to improve to 21-6-3 with a 2.49 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and two shutouts in 31 career appearances against the Coyotes, his most wins and games played versus any opponent.

* Paul Byron (2-0—2) posted his first career multi-goal game. David Jones (1-1—2) and Sven Baertschi (0-2—2) also had multi-point performances.

* The Flames improved to 7-0-1 following a loss this season.

HOFFMAN LIFTS SENATORS OVER OILERS
The Oilers overcame a 3-0 deficit to force overtime, but Mike Hoffman (2-0—2) scored at 2:39 of the extra frame to help the Senators improve to 3-1-2 in their last six games.

* Hoffman registered his first career overtime goal and second career multi-goal performance (also Nov. 6 vs. MIN: 2-0—2). He is tied for the team lead with seven goals in 13 contests this season; Hoffman had three career goals in 29 outings prior to 2014-15.

* Making his return to Edmonton, rookie Curtis Lazar picked up the primary assist on Hoffman’s overtime winner. The 19-year-old forward spent the past four seasons playing for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL, helping the team to a Memorial Cup championship in 2013-14.

* The Senators earned their sixth win in their last seven visits to Rexall Place dating to Jan. 14, 2006.

SUPER SAVERS
Several goaltenders backstopped their clubs to wins Thursday:

* Kari Lehtonen stopped all 27 shots he faced to record his 28th career shutout and lead the Stars to their second straight victory. He made 14 saves in the second period, including a diving glove stop to rob Jarret Stoll of a wide-open net. Ryan Garbutt scored his second consecutive game-winning goal; he had two such goals in 145 career games prior to Tuesday.

* Antti Niemi made 32 saves, including 15 in the third period, to help the Sharks snap a two-game skid and improve to 9-1-1 in their last 11 meetings with the Lightning. Niemi also improved to 5-0-1 with a 2.31 goals-against average, .916 save percentage and one shutout in six career appearances against Tampa Bay.

* Michael Hutchinson posted 22 saves to backstop the Jets to their seventh victory in their last nine meetings with the Hurricanes. The 24-year-old goaltender now has a 4-2-0 record with a 1.57 goals-against average, .946 save percentage and one shutout in seven career NHL appearances. The Jets have earned points in nine of their last 10 games overall (7-1-2).

CANADIENS ROLL PAST RIVAL BRUINS
Max Pacioretty (2-0—2), Lars Eller (1-1—2) and Dale Weise (1-1—2) each recorded two points to lead the Canadiens to their fourth consecutive victory.

* Pacioretty posted his first multi-goal game since April 4 at OTT (3-2—5). He leads the Canadiens in goals (8), points (13) and plus/minus (+10) through 17 games this season.

* Eller found the back of the net for the third straight game (3-2—5), matching the longest such streak of his NHL career (Oct. 1-9, 2013: 4-2—6).

* The Canadiens now have won eight of their last nine regular-season meetings with the Bruins dating to March 3, 2013.

* With the victory, the Canadiens (12-4-1, 25 points) leapfrogged the Lightning (11-4-2, 24 points) for the top spot in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.

TANGUAY, AVALANCHE EDGE RANGERS
Alex Tanguay scored in regulation and then added the decisive marker in the shootout to help the Avalanche snap a two-game skid.

* Tanguay paces the Avalanche with seven goals this season (18 GP), three of which have come in the last four games. He improved to 21-for-54 (38.9%), with 10 game-deciding goals, in his shootout career.

* Trailing 3-2 midway through the third period, Nathan MacKinnon posted his fifth goal of the season to force overtime. The reigning Calder Trophy winner also scored a dazzling goal in the shootout to give the Avalanche an early 1-0 advantage.

* Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves – and denied two of three shootout attempts – to pick up his third win of the season. He has recorded at least 30 saves in nine of his 12 appearances in 2014-15.

* The Avalanche now have won 12 of their last 15 meetings with the Rangers dating to Jan. 3, 2002.
