HOME COOKING
Home teams won 10 of the 11 games contested Tuesday. Overall, home clubs are 124-74-33 (.608 points percentage) through 231 games this season.

RANGERS, BLACKHAWKS HALT WINNING STREAKS
Both the Rangers and Blackhawks posted victories Tuesday to halt the winning streaks of the Penguins and Lightning, respectively:

* In their first meeting since the Second Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves to record his 53rd career shutout and snap the Penguins’ winning streak at seven games. Lundqvist shares the League lead with three shutouts this season (with Marc-Andre Fleury and Darcy Kuemper) and is 6-2-1 with a 1.74 goals-against average, .941 save percentage and three clean sheets in his last nine appearances dating to Oct. 16.

* Rick Nash led the Rangers with 1-2—3, including the 18th shorthanded goal of his NHL career and first since March 30 at EDM. He has registered at least one point in 11 of 15 games this season (12-5—17) and is tied for the League lead in goals (with Tyler Seguin). Nash also became the first Rangers player to score at least 12 goals in the team’s first 15 games of the season since 2006-07, when Brendan Shanahan had an equal amount.

* Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford recorded 25 saves – and stopped all three attempts he faced in the shootout – to halt the Lightning’s winning streak at six games. Chicago also snapped a five-game losing streak to Tampa Bay dating to March 9, 2011 (0-1-4); five of the last six games between these clubs now have gone past regulation.

* Patrick Kane potted the lone goal in the tiebreaker, improving to 32-for-80 (40.0%) in his shootout career. His 16 game-deciding goals are tied for the most among active players (with Sidney Crosby).

LEHTERA’S NATURAL HAT TRICK POWERS BLUES
Jori Lehtera posted a natural hat trick, the first three-goal game of his NHL career, to lead the Blues to their eighth victory in their last nine outings.

* Lehtera capped the hat trick with his first career shorthanded goal. He now has 4-4—8 during a five-game point streak and 6-8—14 through his first 14 NHL contests.

* Lehtera became the first Blues player to record a natural hat trick since Oct. 12, 1998, when Al MacInnis did so in a 4-2 win at NYR. Although technically not a rookie, Elias says Lehtera is the just the second ‘first-year’ player in Blues history to post a natural hat trick. The other: Cliff Ronning, who did so in a 4-4 tie Jan. 12, 1987 vs. MIN.

* Jaden Schwartz assisted on all three of Lehtera’s goals, marking the first three-assist game of his NHL career. He now has 1-6—7 during a four-game point streak.

* Alexander Steen also collected three assists (all on the power play), his fourth such performance and first since Oct. 12, 2013 vs. NYR.

* Vladimir Tarasenko added two helpers to stretch his point streak to a career-long six games (5-5—10).

* Joakim Lindstrom matched a career high with two goals (2x, most recently Oct. 13, 2011 at OTT), while Kevin Shattenkirk (0-2—2) posted his fourth multi-point game of the season.

* The Blues improved to 15-2-0 in their last 17 meetings with the Sabres dating to Jan. 13, 1999.

HALAK, ISLANDERS POST SECOND STRAIGHT SHUTOUT
Jaroslav Halak stopped all 20 shots he faced to post his second consecutive shutout and lead the Islanders to their fourth straight win.

* The Islanders extended their shutout streak to 181:11, just 18:13 shy of the franchise record established March 31 – April 8, 1998 (199:24). They also picked up consecutive shutouts for the first time since Dec. 23-26, 2006 (both by Rick DiPietro).

* Halak stretched his personal shutout streak to 143:27, following a 19-save performance Saturday at ARI. It marks the fourth time in his NHL career that Halak has posted back-to-back shutouts (most recently, Jan. 16-19, 2012).

* The Islanders now have earned points in 12 of their last 14 meetings with the Avalanche dating to Nov. 21, 2001 (9-2-3). They also recorded their third all-time shutout against the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise and first since March 6, 1988 at QUE (Kelly Hrudey).

SEDINS LIFT CANUCKS IN OVERTIME
After surrendering a trio of one-goal leads, Daniel Sedin scored at 4:05 of overtime to lift the Canucks to their eighth win in their last 10 games (8-1-1).

* Daniel ranks first in Canucks history with 12 regular-season overtime goals (three ahead of Brendan Morrison). He also added an assist for his fourth multi-point game of the season.

* Henrik Sedin posted two helpers, including the primary assist on Daniel’s overtime goal, and paces the club with 5-12—17 in 17 contests this season. He also now has 4-15—19 in 18 career games against the Senators.

* Ryan Miller made 21 saves, including nine in the third period, to improve to 11-2-0 with a 2.46 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and one shutout in 13 appearances this season.

* The Canucks picked up their seventh win in their last eight meetings with the Senators dating to March 13, 2010, with the lone loss coming in the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at BC Place.

FORSBERG (AGAIN) FUELS PREDATORS
Filip Forsberg posted 1-1—2, including the game-winning goal, to power the Predators to their third consecutive victory.

* Forsberg found the back of the net for the fifth straight game and now has 6-4—10 during a six-game point streak. Per Elias, he is the first rookie to post a five-game goal streak since Jan. 8-17, 2012, when Sean Couturier did so for the Flyers (5-1—6).

* Forsberg leads all rookies in goals (7-tied), assists (10) and points (17) in 15 outings this season. His +17 rating also paces the entire NHL.

* The Predators improved to 10-1-1 when scoring at least two goals this season.

* At 10-3-2 (22 points) overall, the Predators are off to their second-best 15-game start in franchise history; the club went 10-2-3 (23 points) to open the 2005-06 campaign.

OVECHKIN, JOHANSSON LEAD CAPITALS TO THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
Alex Ovechkin and Marcus Johansson each scored twice to lead the Capitals to their third straight victory, their longest winning streak since April 5-11 (4-0-0).

* Ovechkin registered his 88th career multi-goal game and third of the season (also Oct. 11 at BOS and Oct. 14 vs. SJS). He now has 3-7—10 in his past six outings.

* Johansson posted his fourth career multi-goal game and first since Jan. 9, 2012 at LAK. He now has 5-3—8 in his last six games and 8-4—12 in 15 contests this season; Johansson scored eight total goals in 2013-14 (80 GP).

* Nicklas Backstrom added two helpers for his fourth multi-assist game and fifth multi-point performance of the season.

SEGUIN, GARBUTT HELP STARS END SKID
Down 2-0 late in the second period, Tyler Seguin evened the score with two goals in 57 seconds and Ryan Garbutt potted the tiebreaking marker with 1:16 remaining in regulation to help the Stars snap a seven-game skid (0-5-2).

* Seguin has 5-1—6 in his last three outings. He is tied for the League lead in goals (12) and also ranks third in points (21) through 15 games this season.

* Garbutt recorded his third career game-winning goal and first since Nov. 26, 2013 vs. ANA. He also scored his third career shorthanded goal and first since April 1 at WSH.

* The Stars improved to 6-3-0 in their last nine meetings with the Coyotes dating to March 20, 2012, including wins in three of their past four matchups.
