TARASENKO, ALLEN LEAD BLUES TO SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN . . .
Vladimir Tarasenko scored the lone goal at 4:55 of the third period and Jake Allen stopped all 26 shots he faced to lead the Blues to their sixth consecutive victory.

* Tarasenko found the back of the net for the third consecutive game and now has 7-2—9 in his last five outings. He leads the Blues with eight goals and 14 points this season.

* Allen recorded his second consecutive shutout (also 24 saves Oct. 30 vs. ANA) and the third of his NHL career. He hasn’t allowed a goal in his last 128:03 of playing time dating to Oct. 23 vs. VAN.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Allen is just the second rookie in Blues history to earn consecutive shutouts. The other: Ernie Wakely, who did so during the 1969-70 season (Jan. 3 vs. PIT and Jan. 15 vs. TOR).

* The Blues picked up their fifth victory in their last six meetings with the Devils dating to March 20, 2010. These clubs close their home-and-home set Thursday in St. Louis.

. . . PENGUINS PUSH WINNING STREAK TO FIVE . . .
Making just his second start of the season, Thomas Greiss posted 33 saves to backstop the Penguins to their fifth consecutive win.

* The Penguins extended their shutout streak to 205:28 before allowing a third-period goal to Nino Niederreiter. Per Elias, it fell 13:20 of the franchise-record shutout streak set March 24 – April 2, 2013 (by Marc Andre-Fleury and Tomas Vokoun).

* The Penguins scored 18 consecutive goals during their shutout streak. Elias says that is the longest run of goals by any NHL team since the 2003-04 season, when the Coyotes recorded 18 straight from Dec. 31 – Jan. 9 (during a five-game shutout streak).

* Evgeni Malkin collected an assist to extend his season-long point streak to 11 games (5-11—16). He has three prior point streaks of at least 11 games, including two 15-game stretches (most recently Jan. 16 – March 4, 2010: 9-15—24).

The team also stretched its shutout streak to 169:44 before allowing a second-period goal to Filip Forsberg. Per Elias, it marks the longest shutout streak in Jets/Thrashers history, surpassing the previous mark of 167:56 set Oct. 5-11, 2006.

* Brad Marchand (1-1—2) posted the primary assist on Patrice Bergeron’s tying goal and then scored the winner at 3:27 of overtime to power the Bruins to their first three-game winning streak since March 27-30. Marchand sparked the winning streak with 2-1—3, including the overtime winner, Thursday at BUF.
