DOWN, BUT NOT OUT
Five teams overcame deficits to pick up wins Thursday, including four that rallied in the third period:

* Trailing 3-1 early in the final frame, Kyle Brodziak scored twice to force overtime and Jason Pominville netted the game-deciding goal in the shootout to lift the Wild to their second consecutive come-from-behind victory. On Tuesday, Minnesota also erased a two-goal, third-period deficit to defeat Boston (4-3 in regulation). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, this marks the first time in Wild history the team has overcome multi-goal, third-period deficits to pick up wins in consecutive games.

* Down 2-1 with less than six minutes remaining, Brad Marchand (2-1—3) scored the tying goal in regulation and then added the winner in overtime to lift the Bruins to their third consecutive victory over the Sabres. Marchand recorded his 11th career game with three or more points and first since Feb. 8 vs. OTT (1-2—3).

* Behind 1-0 with less than four minutes left in the third period, Michael Ryder potted the tying goal and Jacob Josefson netted the lone marker in the tiebreaker to help the Devils pick up their first shootout victory since March 10, 2013 – also vs. WPG. The team had lost 18 consecutive shootouts, the longest such streak in NHL history.

* Trailing 3-2 early in the final frame, Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa scored to give the Blackhawks the lead before Mika Zibanejad tallied the tying marker with 2:08 remaining. Patrick Sharp then potted the lone goal in the shootout to lift the Blackhawks to their eighth victory in their last 10 meetings with the Senators (dating to 2006-07), including a 2-1 win Sunday in Chicago.

* Down 1-0 early in the second period, Brandon Pirri evened the game before Scottie Upshall recorded the tiebreaking goal midway through the third, helping the Panthers extend their point streak to five games (3-0-2). Florida picked up just its second win in its last seven meetings with Arizona at BB&T Center dating to Jan. 30, 2002 (2-4-1).

SUPER SAVERS
Three goaltenders were flawless in leading their teams to victories Thursday:

* Jake Allen made 24 saves to earn his second career shutout and backstop the Blues to their third consecutive victory. Alexander Steen registered the game-winning goal, his second of the season; he led the team with a career-high nine game-winning goals in 2013-14.

* Semyon Varlamov stopped all 40 shots he faced to pick up his 14th career shutout and help the Avalanche extend their point streak to five games (2-0-3). His 40 saves were the most by a Colorado goaltender in a shutout since Nov. 15, 2000, when Patrick Roy made 41 stops in a 3-0 win at ANA.

* Marc-Andre Fleury posted 36 saves to record his 30th career shutout (second of the season) and lead the Penguins to their third straight victory. Evgeni Malkin picked up his 400th NHL assist to extend his season-long point streak to nine games (4-8—12). He joins Mario Lemieux (1,033), Jaromir Jagr (640), Sidney Crosby (503) and Ron Francis (449) as the only players in Penguins history to collect 400 helpers.

STAMKOS, FILPPULA POWER LIGHTNING
Steven Stamkos (2-1—3) and Valtteri Filppula (0-3—3) each registered three points to help the Lightning improve to 8-0-1 in their last nine games against the Flyers at Amalie Arena (dating to 2010-11).

* Stamkos posted his third three-point game of the season, following 3-0—3 Oct. 13 vs. MTL and 2-1—3 Oct. 18 at VAN.

* Filppula matched a career high with three assists, accomplished four times previously (most recently March 13 vs. FLA: 0-3—3).

* Jason Garrison (1-1—2) recorded his first goal and first multi-point game since joining the Lightning. He also picked up his 10th career game-winning score and first since Nov. 28, 2013 at OTT (as a member of the Canucks).

SEDINS LIFT CANUCKS IN OVERTIME
Leading 2-0 with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation, the Canucks surrendered a pair of goals to force overtime, where Daniel Sedin potted the decisive tally off a feed from his brother Henrik.

* Daniel registered his 11th career overtime goal, the most in Canucks history. Him (3-9—12) and Henrik (4-8—12) are tied for the team lead with 12 points apiece this season.

* Henrik’s helper also extended his point streak to six games (2-4—6).

* Ryan Miller made 23 saves to improve to 7-1-0 with a 2.27 goals-against average, .917 save percentage and one shutout in his first eight appearances with the Canucks.
