COMEBACKS, OVERTIMES HIGHLIGHT TUESDAY’S GAMES
Of the 10 games contested Tuesday:

* Seven saw a team overcome a deficit at any point in the game to pick up a win (BOS, NYR, TOR, MTL, NSH, FLA, TBL).

* Six were tied or within one goal entering the third period (SJS-BOS, NYR-NJD, DET-MTL, ARI-NSH, FLA-COL, TBL-CGY).

* Five featured a third-period comeback that eventually led to a win (BOS, NYR, MTL, NSH, TBL).

* Five went past regulation, including four that were decided in overtime (NYR-NJD, MTL-DET, FLA-COL, TBL-CGY).

* Two saw a tying goal scored in the final five minutes of regulation (DET-MTL, TBL-CGY). Both clubs that tied the game (MTL, TBL) went on to win their respective contests.

CANADIENS, LIGHTNING STAGE LATE RALLIES EN ROUTE TO WINS
Both the Canadiens and Lightning scored tying goals in the final minutes of regulation before eventually posting wins in overtime:

* Trailing 1-0 with less than five minutes left in regulation, Alex Galchenyuk potted the tying goal at 16:51 of the third period and David Desharnais chipped in the game-winner 56 seconds into overtime to power Montreal to its third consecutive victory. At 6-1-0, the Canadiens are off to their best start since 1977-78, when they went 6-0-1 in their first seven games (before ultimately winning the Stanley Cup).

* Also down 1-0 in the final minutes of regulation, Valtteri Filppula posted the tying marker at 17:44 of the third period and Ondrej Palat scored his first career overtime goal at 3:00 of the extra frame to lead the Lightning past the Flames. Tampa Bay improved to 2-1-0 on its five-game Western Conference road trip, which continues Friday in Winnipeg.

MORE THIRD-PERIOD COMEBACKS
Three other teams overcame third-period deficits to pick up victories:

* Trailing 3-1, the Rangers scored twice in the final 11 minutes of regulation – including Rick Nash’s League-leading eighth marker of the season – to force overtime, where Kevin Klein won the game with his first career overtime goal at 2:42. Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves to improve to 31-14-6 with a 1.89 goals-against average, .931 save percentage and eight shutouts in 51 career regular-season appearances against the Devils, his most wins versus any opponent.

* Down 3-2 entering the final frame, the Bruins scored three unanswered goals to improve to 17-9-5 all-time against the Sharks, including a 9-4-3 mark at home. Milan Lucic matched a career high with three assists (accomplished three previous times, most recently March 16, 2013 vs. WSH), Seth Griffith potted the tying goal (his first in the NHL) and Gregory Campbell recorded the decisive tally (his seventh career game-winner and first since March 6 vs. WSH).

* After falling behind 3-2 in the third period, James Neal posted the tying goal 21 seconds later and Ryan Ellis registered the game-deciding marker in the shootout to help the Predators improve to 4-0-2, their best start to a season since beginning the 2010-11 campaign with points in eight straight contests (5-0-3). Ellis also factored on all three of Nashville’s goals in regulation, collecting 1-2—3 for his first career three-point game.

BOYES LIFTS PANTHERS IN OVERTIME
Ahead 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Panthers yielded three consecutive goals before eventually tying the game and picking up a win on the strength of Brad Boyespower-play goal at 2:23 of overtime.

* Boyes scored his fifth career overtime goal, all on the road, and first since Jan. 31, 2013 at NJD (as a member of the Islanders).

* Roberto Luongo made 30 saves to improve to 20-15-5 in 40 career regular-season appearances against the Avalanche, including a 13-0-2 record in his last 15 decisions.

* With the victory, Luongo moved past John Vanbiesbrouck and into sole possession of 13th place on the NHL’s all-time wins list (375). He now sits 10 victories behind Mike Vernon for 12th place.

KESSEL, MAPLE LEAFS SURGE PAST ISLANDERS
Down 2-1 after the first period, the Maple Leafs scored four unanswered goals in the middle frame, including a pair by Phil Kessel (2-1—3), to improve to 3-3-1.

* Kessel posted his third multi-point game of 2014-15 and first multi-goal game since Feb. 1 vs. OTT (3-1—4). He leads the Maple Leafs with 4-4—8 this season and now has 16-13—29 in 30 career games against the Islanders.

* Roman Polak registered his first goal with the Maple Leafs and fifth career game-winner (first since April 11, 2013 at MIN).

* FUN FACT: The last nine meetings between the Maple Leafs and Islanders have featured at least seven goals. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it marks the first time that two teams have combined for seven or more goals in nine consecutive meetings since the Penguins and Oilers had an equal streak from 1993-97. The NHL record for such a run: 25 games, set by the Nordiques and Penguins in 1980s.

RAANTA, BLACKHAWKS BLANK FLYERS

* Four Blackhawks players posted multi-point games: Patrick Kane (2-0—2), Bryan Bickell (1-1—2), Brandon Saad (1-1—2) and Patrick Sharp (0-2—2).

* Kane registered his 20th career multi-goal game (in the regular season) and first since Feb. 3 at LAK (2-1—3). Both of his goals came via the power play, marking just the second time in his career he has posted multiple power-play scores in one contest (also, Feb. 7, 2013 at PHX: 2-1—3).

* The Blackhawks recorded their first shutout against the Flyers since Jan. 18, 1976, when Tony Esposito led the team to a 2-0 victory.

STARS BUILD EARLY LEAD TO DEFEAT CANUCKS
The Stars opened a 5-0 lead just 1:17 into the second period and held on to defeat the Canucks for their third win in their past four outings (3-0-1).

FLYERS, PENGUINS RENEW KEYSTONE STATE RIVALRY
The Flyers face off against the intrastate rival Penguins for the first time in 2014-15 when they meet on NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Rivalry. Philadelphia has won three of the past four season series between these clubs (13-6-2 overall), including a 9-1-1 mark in their last 11 meetings at CONSOL Energy Center. The Flyers are coming off a 4-0 loss Tuesday to the Blackhawks, while the Penguins are taking the ice for the first time since a 3-1 victory Saturday against the Islanders. Pittsburgh will wear its new third jerseys for the first time since unveiling them in mid-September; the design reunites ‘Pittsburgh gold’ with the skating Penguins logo for the first time since 1992.

MAPLE LEAFS, SENATORS MEET IN BATTLE OF ONTARIO
The Maple Leafs and Senators renew the Battle of Ontario when they face off on Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey. This marks the 100th regular-season meeting between these clubs and the first of five in 2014-15; Ottawa (50-39-10) leads the all-time series with 110 points to Toronto’s 103 (46-42-11). The Maple Leafs, however, won three of four matchups between these clubs last season (OTT: 1-1-2). Toronto is coming off a 5-2 victory Tuesday against the Islanders, while Ottawa has won four consecutive games since dropping its season opener.
