The others: the 1955-56 Canadiens, 1973-74 Flyers, 2001-02 Flames and 2005-06 Panthers.

* Darcy Kuemper made 30 saves to earn his second consecutive shutout and lead the Wild to a sweep of their home-and-home series with the Avalanche. Elias says that at age 24, Kuemper is the youngest goaltender in NHL history to post shutouts in each of his team’s first two games of a season. He also recorded 16 saves in Minnesota’s season-opening win Thursday.

* Alex Stalock made 30 saves to pick up his third career shutout and backstop the Sharks to a 2-0-0 record. According to Sportsnet, San Jose is the first team in NHL history to begin a season with consecutive shutouts from different goaltenders; Antti Niemi posted 34 saves in the team’s season-opening victory Thursday at LAK.

CANADIENS STAGE THIRD-PERIOD RALLY TO IMPROVE TO 3-0-0
Trailing 3-0 after 40 minutes, Andrei Markov, Tomas Plekanec and Alex Galchenyuk scored in the third period and Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau potted the lone goal in the shootout to help the Canadiens improve to 3-0-0 for the first time since 2005-06.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Canadiens last overcame a 3-0 third-period deficit on Dec. 10, 1997 vs. STL. In that game, Saku Koivu, Dave Manson and Stephane Quintal scored in the third period and Vincent Damphousse netted the winner 55 seconds into overtime.

* Markov posted 1-2—3 for his first regular-season three-point game since March 1 vs. TOR (0-3—3). He also posted three helpers in Game 5 of the 2014 Eastern Conference Final vs. NYR.

* Plekanec found the back of the net for the third consecutive game, the first time he has accomplished that feat since Oct. 25-29, 2010 (3-1—4). He is tied for the NHL lead with four goals this season (with Wayne Simmonds, PHI).

SENATORS, COYOTES, CANUCKS ALSO STORM BACK FOR WINS
The Senators, Coyotes and Canucks also overcame deficits to earn victories in extra time:

* The Coyotes fell behind 2-0 just 12:57 after the opening puck drop, but Antoine Vermette and Mikkel Boedker tied the game in regulation, setting the stage for Oliver Ekman-Larsson to post his second career overtime goal (also, Nov. 12, 2013 at STL).

* The Canucks rallied from 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 deficits before Chris Higgins netted the decisive marker in the shootout. BLACKHAWKS, PREDATORS BREAK OUT IN THIRD PERIOD
Tied after 40 minutes, both the Blackhawks and Predators used strong third periods to pick up their second victories of the season:

HOLTBY, CAPITALS SHUT THE DOOR ON BOSTON
Braden Holtby made 29 saves to record his 12th career shutout and help Barry Trotz pick up his first victory as head coach of the Capitals.

* The Capitals posted their first shutout in Boston since Dec. 2, 2000, when Olaf Kolzig made 23 saves in a 2-0 victory. They also earned their first overall shutout against the Bruins since Jan. 14, 2002, when Kolzig stopped 30 pucks in a 1-0 overtime win.
