* Milan Lucic (1-1—2) scored his team-leading third goal of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs and first postseason game-winner since May 3, 2010 (vs. PHI).

* Defensemen Torey Krug (0-2—2), Zdeno Chara (1-0—1) and Dougie Hamilton (0-1—1) all found the scoresheet in Game 5. The trio combined for 11 points in the five-game series – Krug: 1-4—5, Hamilton: 1-3—4, Chara: 2-0—2.

* Loui Eriksson recorded his fifth career playoff goal and first since May 14, 2008, also versus the Red Wings.

* The Bruins went 2-for-6 on the power play. Six of their 14 total goals in the series came via the man-advantage (6-for-16, 37.5%) – they ranked third in the NHL in power-play efficiency during the regular season, posting a 21.7% conversion rate (50-for-230).

* The Bruins outscored Detroit 14-6 in the series. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the six goals against ties a club record for fewest allowed in a series lasting at least five games. Boston held the Toronto to six goals in five games during the 1939 Stanley Cup Final.

2014 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS BRACKET CHALLENGE
Among the more than half-million entries for the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Challenge powered by Can-Am on NHL.com, 83% picked the Bruins to win their series against the Red Wings – just 30% selected them to win in five games.

BRUINS WILL FACE CANADIENS IN SECOND ROUND
The Bruins now will face the Canadiens in the Second Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, with Boston having home-ice advantage.

This marks the 34th time the Bruins and Canadiens will meet in the postseason, a record in North American professional sports. Montreal holds a 24-9 series edge in their all-time matchups, but Boston has won seven of their last 11 meetings, including a seven-game victory in their most recent series in the 2011 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

The Canadiens won three of their four regular-season games versus the Bruins in 2013-14 (BOS: 1-2-1) – the Red Wings (3-1-0) were the only other team to defeat Boston more than twice.

MacKINNON, AVALANCHE STORM BACK TO TAKE 3-2 SERIES LEAD
PA Parenteau scored the tying goal with 1:14 remaining in regulation and Nathan MacKinnon potted the game-winner 3:27 into overtime to power the Avalanche to a 3-2 series lead over the Wild.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, MacKinnon became the second-youngest player in NHL history to score an overtime goal in the Stanley Cup Playoffs:

PENGUINS EDGE BLUE JACKETS TO TAKE 3-2 SERIES LEAD
Knotted at 1-1, Jussi Jokinen scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period to help the Penguins take a 3-2 series lead over the Blue Jackets.

* For the fifth time in as many games in this series, the team allowing the first goal came back to win. In every other First Round series, teams yielding the first goal are a combined 9-24.

* Jokinen potted his team-leading third goal and second game-winner of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs (also, GWG in Game 3). Nearly half of his 12 career postseason goals have been decisive markers (5-of-12, 41.7%).

* The Penguins improved to 5-1 in their last six Game 5s. They also moved to 17-7 all-time in Game 5s contested in Pittsburgh, including a 7-3 mark in their last 10 such games. Of their last five series that have been tied 2-2, the Penguins now have won Game 5 four times.

* Both the Penguins (1-for-4) and Blue Jackets (1-for-2) scored via the power play. Of the 32 goals that have been recorded in this series, 15 have come via special teams (46.9% – 11 PPG, 4 SHG).

* The Penguins fired 21 shots on goal in the second period, matching a franchise playoff record for one frame (established April 15, 1975 vs. NYI).

Jonathan Quick stopped all 30 shots he faced to record his eighth career playoff shutout and help the Kings force a Game 6 versus the Sharks.

* The Kings snapped a five-game playoff losing streak versus the Sharks at SAP Center. They also picked up their second victory in their last 14 visits to San Jose (regular season and playoffs).

* After allowing 16 goals in the first three games of the series (.852 SV%), Quick has denied 66-of-69 shots (.957 SV%) over the past two contests.

* Tyler Toffoli scored the winning goal for the second consecutive game and now has 4-6—10 in 17 career postseason outings. He tied for first among rookies with five game-winning goals during the regular season.

* Anze Kopitar recorded his first goal of the playoffs to extend his point streak to eight games dating to the regular season (5-5—10).

* Jeff Carter also found the back of the net and now has posted one point in each game of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs (2-3—5). He has a nine-game postseason point streak dating to June 2, 2013 (3-7—10).

* The starting time for Game 6 between the Penguins and Blue Jackets has been set for 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday, April 28, in Columbus (NBCSN, CBC).

* The starting time for Game 6 between the Avalanche and Wild has been set for 9:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. CT on Monday, April 28, in Minnesota (CNBC, TSN).

* The starting time for Game 6 between the Sharks and Kings has been set for 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT on Monday, April 28, in Los Angeles (NBCSN, CBC).
