SHARKS EXPLODE FOR SEVEN UNANSWERED GOALS
Seven different scorers found the back of the net for the Sharks as they stormed back from a 2-0 first-period deficit to defeat the Kings 7-2 in Game 2 of their First Round series, taking a 2-0 series lead.

* The Sharks set a franchise record for most consecutive goals in a game (7), scored the most goals in a home-ice postseason game and matched a franchise record for the highest offensive output in any playoff game (7-3 win at Colorado on Apr. 30, 1999). San Jose also tied their record for widest margin of victory in a home playoff game with five.

* After being outscored 14-10 in last year’s seven-game series versus Los Angeles, the Sharks have tallied 13 goals in the opening two games (6-3 victory in Game 1) this postseason. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Sharks have set a new franchise mark for the most goals in a two-game span in a single postseason, breaking the previous mark of 12 goals (6-5 and 6-3 victories over Los Angeles on Apr. 19 and 21, 2011).

* The Kings have allowed 13 goals in a two-game span (regular-season or playoffs) for the first time since losing 6-3 to Phoenix and 7-4 to Philadelphia on Dec. 29 and 30, 2010, respectively.

* Joe Pavelski (1-2—3) led all players with three points while five other Sharks finished with multiple points. In total, 12 of San Jose’s 18 skaters found the scoresheet.

* The Sharks have won six of eight all-time home playoff games against the Kings, including each of their past five meetings. Overall, the home team has won 22 of the past 24 head-to-head matchups (regular-season and playoffs) between the Sharks and Kings.

CANADIENS STRIKE EARLY, TAKE 3-0 SERIES LEAD
Rene Bourque scored on the first shot of the game 11 seconds after the opening faceoff, and Tomas Plekanec scored the eventual game-winner early in the third period as Montreal moved within one win of the Second Round with a 3-2 victory in Game 3 versus Tampa Bay.

*The Canadiens, who now hold a 3-0 series lead own a 31-0 record in series in which they have won the first three games.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Bourque’s tally was the fastest goal to start a game by a Montreal player at the Bell Centre and the second fastest ever at the building (regular-season and playoffs); Buffalo’s Vladimir Tsyplakov scored 10 seconds into a regular-season game on November 25, 2000. The fastest goal to start a playoff game by a Canadiens player came during the 1977 postseason when Bob Gainey scored seven seconds into the sixth game of their Semifinals series versus the Islanders.

* Bourque now has three goals in his past two games after notching just three goals in his first 11 career postseason games. He has goals in consecutive games for the first time this season.

* Carey Price made 27 saves to win his 12th career postseason game, taking sole possession of 10th on the franchise’s all-time wins list.

* Subban recorded two assists for the second consecutive game. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, over the last 20 years the only other Canadiens to register consecutive multiple-assist games in one playoff year were Scott Gomez in 2010 and Mike Cammalleri in 2011. Subban is the first Montreal defenseman to notch two straight multiple-assist games in one playoff year since Larry Robinson in 1987.

DID YOU KNOW?
Only three teams in NHL postseason history have come back to win a series after falling behind 3-0, most recently the Philadelphia Flyers over the Boston Bruins in the 2010 Eastern Conference Semi-Final. The New York Islanders also did so against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1975 Quarter-Final and the Toronto Maple Leafs came back from a 3-0 series deficit to win the 1942 Stanley Cup Final over the Detroit Red Wings.

FLYERS RALLY TO SNAP SKID AT THE GARDEN, EVEN SERIES
The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the 10-minute mark of the first period before the Flyers scored four unanswered goals to win 4-2, snapping a nine-game losing streak at Madison Square Garden and tying the series 1-1.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the sixth time in the last seven playoff years that the Flyers won a game in which they trailed by two goals or more, tying them with the Bruins for the League high over that span. All six of Philadelphia's two-or-more-goal comeback wins in the playoffs since 2008 have come on the road.

* The Flyers came back to win after trailing by two goals in eight regular-season games in 2013-14. The club’s last playoff victory when trailing by two goals was April 13, 2012 when they overcame a pair of two-goal deficits to win 8-5 in Game 2 of their Quarterfinals series versus Pittsburgh.

* Luke Schenn’s first career playoff goal stood as the second winning tally of his career. His only other deciding goal came with Toronto on April 1, 2010. Schenn’s brother, Brayden, recorded an assist on Philadelphia’s second goal. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time a player scored his first career playoff goal and his brother also registered a point in the same game was April 10, 2008 when both Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn netted their first playoff goal for Montreal.

* Flyers goaltender Ray Emery made 31 saves to win his first postseason game in exactly three years - he made 19 saves in Anaheim’s 6-3 victory over Nashville in Game 4 of the 2011 Western Conference Quarterfinals. He now holds a record of 21-16 in 38 career playoff games.

BRUINS FIND SCORING TOUCH TO EVEN SERIES
The Bruins scored on two of their 18 first-period shots, with both Justin Florek and Reilly Smith recording their first career playoff goals as the Bruins defeated the Red Wings 4-1 to even their First Round series.

* Tuukka Rask made 34 saves in the Bruins win, allowing just one goal against for the second consecutive game to open the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Rask led all NHL goaltenders with a total of 26 starts in which he allowed no more than one goal during the 2013-14 regular-season.

* Jarome Iginla and Torey Krug each recorded two assists. The multi-point game was the 19th such game of Iginla’s postseason career and the second for Krug.

* The Bruins improved to 19-28 all-time in Game 2 of a best-of-seven series after losing Game 1. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Boston has an all-time series record of 12-8 when losing Game 1 and winning Game 2.

*The Bruins win snapped a four game losing streak to the Red Wings (three regular season, one playoff).

YOUNG AVALANCHE TAKE PLAYOFF ACT TO MINNESOTA
The Colorado Avalanche head to Minnesota with a 2-0 series lead and a red-hot first line of Nathan MacKinnon (1-6—7), Paul Stastny (3-4—7) and Gabriel Landeskog (3-0—3). MacKinnon’s seven points matched an NHL record for points in the first two games of a playoff career and at 18 years, 228 days became the youngest player in Avalanche/Nordiques history to score a playoff goal in Game 2. Colorado was a League-best 26-11-4 on the road this season, and are 12-0 all-time when holding a 2-0 series lead. Teams that go up 2-0 in a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoffs series hold an all-time series record of 287-45 (86.4%). The Wild return to Xcel Energy Center where they had the seventh best home record during the regular season (26-10-5).

DEFENDING CHAMPS RETURN HOME
The Chicago Blackhawks return to the United Center down 2-0 in their series with the St.Louis Blues. Both St. Louis wins featured late game heroics, with the Blues scoring a late tying goal in regulation before winning in overtime. It was just the third time in Stanley Cup Playoffs history that a team had won consecutive games in one series when trailing in the final two minutes of regulation in each contest. Chicago looks to get on track at home, where they went 11-2 in the postseason during last year’s run to the Stanley Cup.
