ISLANDERS, CAPITALS SURVIVE ONE-GOAL GAMES TO EXTEND POINT STREAKS
The Islanders withstood two Maple Leafs goals in the final two minutes of regulation and the Capitals skated to a shootout victory over their Metropolitan Division rival Flyers to each extend their point streaks to 13 games (NYI: 12-0-1; WSH: 11-0-2).

* The Islanders posted their fifth point streak of 13 or more games in franchise history. Since their inaugural NHL season in 1972-73, New York is one of seven teams to record at least five such runs – a list that also includes Washington.



* Casey Cizikas became the 11th different Islanders player to register a game-winning goal this season, the most by any team in 2019-20 and three more than the next closest clubs: Capitals, Predators, Penguins, Sabres and Stars (all w/ 8).

* The Capitals improved to 14-2-4 (32 points) through 20 GP in 2019-20 and registered the highest point total through the first 20 games of a season in franchise history.

* John Carlson (0-1—1) factored on the Capitals’ only goal in regulation as Washington moved within two games of the longest point streak in franchise history. Carlson, who has found the score sheet in 16 of 20 games this season, became the sixth different defenseman to require 20 or fewer team games to reach the 30-point mark in a season and first since Al MacInnis (1990-91 w/ CGY).

DACH SCORES GAME-WINNING GOAL WEDNESDAY AFTER KAKKO DID SO TUESDAY
The Blackhawks scored five straight goals to erase a multi-goal deficit, including a game winner from rookie Kirby Dach (1-1—2), as Chicago earned its first win over Vegas (VGK: 7-1-0 since Oct. 24, 2017). Dach became the third different 18-year-old in Blackhawks history to score a game-winning goal.

* Eighteen-year-old Dach, the third-overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, scored the game-winning goal a day after the second-overall selection, Kaapo Kakko, also did so with the Rangers Tuesday. It marked just the third time in NHL history that an 18-year-old registered a game-winning tally in consecutive days.

* Dach also joined Devils forward Jack Hughes (Oct. 19-25) and Kakko (Nov. 10-12) as the third player from the 2019 NHL Draft to score in consecutive games this season. Only three other 18-year-old players in Blackhawks history have accomplished the feat: Patrick Kane (2x in 2007-08), Eddie Olczyk (4x in 1984-85) and Bobby Hull (Nov. 9-10, 1957).

* Only two players in Blackhawks history have posted a multi-point game at a younger age than Dach (18 years, 297 days): Olczyk (7x in 1984-85) and Harold Jackson (18 years, 229 days on March 18, 1937).

* Chicago and Ottawa both recorded comeback wins Wednesday. Forty-two of 44 days in 2019-20 have featured at least one comeback win, highlighted by a run of 30 consecutive days from Oct. 12 to Nov. 10. The only without: Oct. 11 and Nov. 11.

PAGEAU’S FIRST REGULAR-SEASON HAT TRICK DRIVES SENATORS PAST DEVILS
Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored two of the Senators’ three third-period goals to complete his first career regular-season hat trick and help Ottawa rally to its third win in four contests.

* Pageau’s hat trick was the third of his career and first in the regular season, netting each of his first two performances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs – including a four-goal outing in Game 2 of their 2017 Second Round series vs. the Rangers. He joined Daniel Alfredsson as the second player in Senators history to score a hat trick in both a regular season and postseason contest.

* Pageau celebrated his 27th birthday Monday and has collected nine points in his last seven games (8-1—9). The fourth-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft (96th overall) leads the Senators in goals and points in 2019-20 (11-4—15), while also pacing the NHL with a plus-19 rating.

PERRY SKATES IN 1,000TH CAREER GAME
Joe Pavelski scored twice on the night Corey Perry skated in his 1,000th career game as the Stars improved to 8-1-1 over the past 10 games on the heels of a 1-7-1 start to 2019-20.

* Perry, who signed with the Stars as a free agent on July 1, became the 340th player and 225th forward in NHL history to skate in 1,000 career games after originally being selected by the Ducks in the first round of the 2003 NHL Draft (28th overall) and playing 988 contests with the franchise.

* Makar leads all rookies in scoring this season with 5-13—18, six more than the next closest player: Buffalo’s Victor Olofsson (7-5—12). Only three defensemen in NHL history have been the first rookie to reach the 20-point mark, all of which have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame: Nicklas Lidstrom (22 GP w/ DET in 1991-92), Bobby Orr (33 GP w/ BOS in 1966-67) and Hap Day (18 GP w/ TSP in 1924-25).

RED WINGS CAN MATCH FRANCHISE BENCHMARK WITH ANOTHER COMEBACK
The Red Wings put their three-game win streak on the line when they continue their California road trip in Los Angeles, when facing off against the Kings at STAPLES Center.

* Detroit enters Thursday’s contest with wins in each of its last three contests, all of which featuring a deficit in some capacity. The Red Wings have earned a comeback win in four consecutive games four times in franchise history and most recently, Jan 17-23, 2012.
