HISCHIER CAPS THREE-GOAL COMEBACK WITH OT WINNER
Nico Hischier (1-1—2) scored with 1:41 remaining in overtime to help the Devils overcome a three-goal deficit to win for the second time this season (also: Dec. 14 vs. VGK). The first-overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft (20 years, 42 days) became the first player in Devils franchise history to record three overtime goals before his 21st birthday. Among active players, only Ilya Kovalchuk and Sean Monahan (both with 4) scored more overtime tallies prior to turning 21.

* New Jersey recorded the 15th instance of a team overcoming a three-goal deficit to win this season. The last campaign to see more than 15three-goal comeback victories through games played on Feb. 15 was 2008-09 (16).

* Additionally, the Devils’ overtime victory marked the 125th multi-goal comeback of 2018-19, the highest total in any season through games played on Feb. 15.

QUICK STRIKES SPARK RANGERS IN SIX-GOAL OUTING
The Rangers (25-24-8, 58 points) tallied three times in the final frame, including two in a span of eight seconds by Pavel Buchnevich (1-1—2) and Vladislav Namestnikov (2-1—3). This marked the seventh time this season a team has scored twice within 10 seconds. Earlier in 2018-19, the Canadiens set an NHL record for the fastest two goals by one team when Max Domi and Joel Armia scored two seconds apart on Nov. 1, 2018.

* Prior to Friday, the last time the Rangers scored twice in less than eight seconds was when they set a franchise record with two tallies in four seconds on Oct. 19, 2014 (Martin St. Louis and Rick Nash).

* New York recorded the 153rd instance of a team registering at least six goals in a game this season. The 2018-19 campaign is just the second season in the last 20 years to feature at least 153 such instances through games played Feb. 15. The other: 2005-06 (154).

McELHINNEY POSTS 40-SAVE PERFORMANCE IN VICTORY
Curtis McElhinney (40 saves) posted his ninth career victory in which he recorded at least 40 saves to backstop the Hurricanes (30-22-6, 66 points) to within one point of the idle Penguins (30-20-7, 67 points) for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

* McElhinney, who registered his eighth win in his last nine appearances overall and improved to 7-0-0 in his career vs. EDM, leads all netminders in goals-against average since the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign (2.27 GAA, min. 40 GP).

HALAK BLANKS DUCKS AS BRUINS EXTEND STREAK
Jaroslav Halak turned aside all 30 shots he faced to post his fourth shutout of the season (46th career) and help the Bruins (33-17-8, 74 points) extend their point streak to nine contests (6-0-3 dating to Jan. 29). Boston moved within one point of idle Toronto (36-18-3, 75 points) for second place in the Atlantic Division.

* Halak became the 14th goaltender in Bruins franchise history to record at least four shutouts in his first season with the club. The last netminder to record more than four shutouts in his debut season with the Bruins was Byron Dafoe (6 in 1997-98).

PAIR OF SABRES CONTINUE TO IMPRESS IN FIRST SEASON WITH THE CLUB
First-year Sabres Jeff Skinner (2-0—2) and Rasmus Dahlin (0-1—1) each found the score sheet Friday to boost their season totals to 36-17—53 and 6-26—32 in 57 GP, respectively.

* Skinner sits one tally shy of matching his career high (37 in 2016-17) and ranks second in goals this season to Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (39 in 57 GP). Only four players have scored more in their first season with the Sabres: Pat LaFontaine (46 in 1991-92), Richard Martin (44 in 1971-72), Gilbert Perreault (38 in 1970-71) and Ray Sheppard (38 in 1987-88).

* Dahlin collected his 26th assist of the season on Skinner's second goal of the game. Only one 18-year-old defenseman in NHL history has collected more assists prior to his 19th birthday: Dahlin’s current head coach Phil Housley (17-40–57). Dahlin trails only the aforementioned Housley and Bobby Orr (13-25—38) for the most points by an 18-year-old blueliner in NHL history.

STREAKING BLUES TARGET NINTH STRAIGHT WIN

The Blues (29-22-5, 63 points), who hold third place in the Central Division standings, can extend the League’s longest active winning streak to nine games when they visit the Avalanche (23-23-11, 57 points) at Pepsi Center. Vladimir Tarasenko, who leads the team with 24 goals, can also extend his career-high point streak to 11 contests (9-8—17 in 10 GP).

* St. Louis’ current eight-game run is the club’s longest since a nine-game stretch from Oct. 15 - Nov. 5, 2002. The longest winning streak in franchise history was a 10-game streak during the 2001-02 campaign (10-0-0 from Jan. 3-23, 2002). The Sabres (10-0-0 from Nov. 8-27, 2018) are the only team to record a longer winning streak in 2018-19.

* The Blues, who sat at the bottom of the NHL standings on Jan. 2 with a record of 15-18-4 (34 points), are the eighth team in League history - and second this season - to win at least eight consecutive games after sitting in last place overall (min. 10 GP). The Flyers had an 8-0-0 run from Jan. 14 - Feb. 4 after occupying the No. 31 seed as late as Jan. 13 (16-23-6, 38 points).

* Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington is 11-1-1 this season (1.69 GAA, .931 SV%, 3 SO), including wins in each of his last seven appearances. He has already matched the franchise mark for longest win streak by a rookie goaltender (Brent Johnson: 2x in 2000-01) and can become the second rookie netminder to record an eight-game winning streak this season (Carter Hart: 8-0-0 w/ PHI from Jan. 14 - Feb. 9, 2019).

* Only two seasons in NHL history have seen multiple rookie winning streaks of eight or more games. Canadiens goaltender Bill Durnan did so twice in 1943-44 (9-0-0 and 10-0-0) and a pair of Flyers netminders accomplished the feat in 1982-83 (Pelle Lindbergh: 9-0-0 and Bob Froese: 8-0-0).

KANE AIMS TO MATCH HOFFMAN FOR LONGEST POINT STREAK IN 2018-19

Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane looks to extend his point streak to 17 games (12-23—35 in 16 GP), which would match Panthers forward Mike Hoffman (17 GP from Oct. 13 - Nov. 21) for the longest by any player in 2018-19.

* The last season to witness multiple players record a point streak of 17 or more games was 2009-10: Corey Perry (19 GP w/ ANA) and Steven Stamkos (18 GP w/ TBL).

* Kane can also extend his franchise-record assist streak to 16 contests, in which he would become just the seventh NHL player to post an assist streak of 16+ games. The longest assist streak in NHL history was recorded by Wayne Gretzky in 1990-91 (23 GP w/ LAK).

MATTHEWS RETURNS TO HOME STATE CHASING 30 GOALS
Fresh off scoring the 100th and 101st goals of his NHL career Thursday, Auston Matthews (27-26—53 in 43 GP) is set to play in his home state of Arizona for the third time when the Maple Leafs (36-18-3, 75 points) visit the Coyotes (25-27-5, 55 points).

* Matthews has found the score sheet in each of his previous two outings at Gila River Arena (1-1—2 in 2 GP). Growing up a Coyotes fan in Scottsdale, Ariz., Matthews began attending Coyotes games when he was just two years old and fell in love with the sport while cheering on his favorite players: Daniel Briere and Shane Doan.

* Matthews sits three tallies shy of his third consecutive 30-goal season. Among players to make their debut with Toronto, he can become the first to score 30 or more goals in each of his first three NHL seasons.
