SENATORS HANG ON TO DEFEAT PREDATORS . . .

Ottawa surrendered a 3-0 lead, but Thomas Chabot scored 21 seconds into overtime as the Senators became the first Eastern Conference team to defeat the Predators this season.

* Chabot (10-26—36 in 35 GP) became the third defenseman to reach the 10-goal mark this season, joining Matt Dumba (12-10—22 in 32 GP) and Morgan Rielly (10-25—35 in 33 GP). Chabot paces all defensemen with 36 points in 2018-19, one more than Rielly, John Carlson (5-30—35 in 31 GP) and Mark Giordano (6-29—35 in 32 GP).

* The 2018-19 campaign marked the first season to feature three or more defensemen each with at least 10 goals through games played Dec. 17 since 2001-02 (Andy Delmore, Ed Jovanovski and Sergei Gonchar).

. . . AS ROOKIES CONTINUE TO FIND SCORESHEET

Senators rookies Brady Tkachuk (1-0—1), Maxime Lajoie (1-0—1), Colin White (0-1—1) and Drake Batherson (0-1—1) each found the scoresheet on Monday.

* Not including shootout winners, rookies have scored 31 of the Senators’ 116 goals this season (26.7%) – by far the highest such percentage among all 31 NHL teams. Senators rookies have also combined for a League-leading 67 points in 2018-19 (31-36—67).

* Tkachuk, who made his NHL debut on Oct. 8, scored his 10th goal of the season (10-8—18 in 24 GP). His 10 goals in 2018-19 are the second-most among NHL rookies, trailing only Canucks forward Elias Pettersson (17-18—35 in 30 GP).

* Tkachuk required the third-fewest games to score 10 career goals among players to debut with the Senators, behind only Alexei Yashin on Nov. 10, 1993 (13 GP) and Patrick Eaves on Jan. 19, 2006 (22 GP). He also required the fewest games among his family members to score 10 career NHL goals, seven less than his father Keith (31 GP) and 27 fewer than his brother Matthew (51 GP).

* Lajoie scored his seventh goal of 2018-19 (7-6—13 in 32 GP) and moved into a tie with Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen (7-10—17 in 33 GP) for the most among rookie blueliners. Only two rookie defensemen in franchise history have scored more goals in a season: Andrej Meszaros in 2005-06 (10-29—39 in 82 GP) and Thomas Chabot in 2017-18 (9-16—25 in 63 GP).

DID YOU KNOW?

The Predators had their season-opening 10-game win streak against Eastern Conference opponents snapped on Monday.

* Only one team has registered a longer season-opening win streak against interconference opponents since 1974-75. This was accomplished by Toronto in 1977-78, which won each of its first 12 games against teams from the Clarence Campbell Conference.

DUCKS, BRUINS EXTEND ROAD WIN STREAKS

The Ducks and Bruins each secured wins as visitors on Monday to extend road win streaks:

* Anaheim scored four unanswered goals to erase a 2-0 deficit and extend its road win streak to six games dating to Nov. 27. Only one team has posted a longer such run this season: Nashville from Oct. 4 – Nov. 10 (8-0-0).

* The Ducks earned wins in six or more consecutive road games for the sixth time in franchise history and first since Feb. 13 – March 5, 2016 (6-0-0). The franchise record for longest regular-season road win streak is seven games, a mark set from Nov. 28 – Dec. 13, 2006.

* Jaroslav Halak turned aside all 22 shots he faced versus his former club to record his third shutout of the season (45th career) and help the Bruinsimprove to 5-0-0 in their last five road games against the Canadiens dating to Dec. 12, 2016 (MTL: 0-3-2). Boston established a franchise record for its longest regular-season road win streak versus Montreal, eclipsing the previous mark of 4-0-0 set from Jan. 11 – Dec. 20, 1941.

* Did You Know? The Bruins posted their largest margin of victory in a road shutout against the Canadiens since an 8-0 win at the Montreal Forumon Jan. 19, 1974. Goaltender Ross Brooks turned aside all 22 shots he faced, while eight skaters collected multiple points: Don Marcotte (2-0—2), Phil Esposito (1-1—2), Dave Forbes (1-1—2), Derek Sanderson (1-1—2), Gregg Sheppard (1-1—2), Carol Vadnais (1-1—2), Wayne Cashman(0-2—2) and Bobby Orr (0-2—2).

BOBROVSKY, BLUE JACKETS BLANK GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside all 28 shots he faced to help the Blue Jackets blank the Golden Knights. Bobrovsky recorded his 13th shutout since the beginning of the 2016-17 season, tied for the most among all goaltenders in that span (w/ Pekka Rinne).

SCHEIFELE, JETS LOOK TO KEEP CLUTCH STREAK ALIVE

The Western Conference-leading Jets (22-9-2, 46 points) have won five consecutive games overall including three straight in overtime. TheJets/Thrashers have only won four straight games in extra time (overtime OR shootout) once in franchise history - a four-game run last season from Mar. 20 - 27, 2018.

* The Jets are one of eight teams in NHL history to win three consecutive games inside the overtime period and fourth since 2016-17 (also BUF: 3 GP from Jan. 20-24, 2017; MTL: 3 GP from Feb. 25-28, 2017 and STL: 3 GP from Mar. 17-21, 2018). No team has ever won four straight contests inside the overtime period.

* Mark Scheifele enters the contest on a five-game point streak (5-9—14), with four three-point outings over that span including three in a row. Only one other player in franchise history has recorded three consecutive three-point games: Atlanta’s Marc Savard from Nov. 9-12, 2005 (1-9—10 in 3 GP).

* In addition, Scheifele has netted the overtime winner in consecutive games. Only one player in NHL history has scored the overtime winner in three consecutive team games: Andrew Cogliano from Mar. 7 – 11, 2008 w/ EDM.

* Scheifele can become the third player in franchise history to collect multiple points in six consecutive team games; he would join Atlanta’s Ilya Kovalchuk from Jan. 1-11, 2006 (10-6—16 in 6 GP) and Marian Hossa from Nov. 9-21, 2007 (6-7—13 in 6 GP).

McDAVID CLOSING IN ON 200 CAREER ASSISTS

After becoming the ninth player in NHL history to reach the 300-point milestone before celebrating his 22nd birthday on Dec. 13, Connor McDavidsets his sights on his next career achievement as he enters Tuesday’s game one shy of 200 assists (106-199—305 in 242 GP).

* McDavid (21 years, 339 days) can become the fifth player to reach 200 assists before celebrating his 22nd birthday, joining Wayne Gretzky (20 years, 265 days), Sidney Crosby (21 years, 72 days), Mario Lemieux (21 years, 177 days), Dale Hawerchuk (21 years, 251 days) and Ron Francis (21 years, 346 days).

* In addition, he can become the ninth player in NHL history to reach the 200-assist milestone in less than 250 games. Wayne Gretzky required the fewest appearances to 200 assists (165 GP), while Sidney Crosby (219 GP) is the only active player to accomplish the feat in less than 250 games.
