McDAVID SCORES 100TH CAREER NHL GOAL, ECLIPSES 30-POINT MARK

Oilers captain Connor McDavid scored the 100th goal of his NHL career (230 GP) and added two assists to boost his point total to 13-18—31 this season (21 GP). He became the second player to eclipse the 30-point mark in 2018-19, joining Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen (8-24—32 in 20 GP).

* Among players to debut with the Oilers franchise, McDavid required the fourth-fewest games to score 100 career NHL goals (all w/ EDM). McDavid (21 years, 311 days) also became the second-youngest player in franchise history to score 100 career goals with the Oilers, behind only Wayne Gretzky (20 years, 40 days) on March 7, 1981.

* McDavid became the fifth different player in franchise history to reach the 30-point mark in a season in 21 or fewer team games and first since Mark Messier in 1989-90 (19 GP). The franchise record for fewest team games to record 30 points in a season is 10, a mark set by Gretzky in 1984-85.

THORNTON TIES LEMIEUX FOR 11TH PLACE ON ALL-TIME ASSISTS LIST

Sharks forward Joe Thornton collected the 1,033rd assist of his NHL career to tie Mario Lemieux for 11th place on the League’s all-time list. Every player ahead of Thornton – other than Jaromir Jagr, who is not yet eligible – has been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

DID YOU KNOW?

Sharks forward Joonas Donskoi opened the scoring 45 seconds into the game. He scored the 28th opening-minute goal of 2018-19, the highest such total through the first 317 games of a season since 1992-93 (29).

SNEAK PEEK AT WEDNESDAY’S ACTION

STREAKS ON THE LINE WITH 14-GAME SLATE AHEAD OF U.S. THANKSGIVING

Several streaks are on the line Wednesday when twenty-eight of 31 teams will be in action as the NHL enters U.S. Thanksgiving with a 14-game slate:

* The Sabres (13-6-2, 28 points) aim to extend their win streak to seven games when they host the Flyers (9-9-2, 20 points) at KeyBank Center. Buffalo, which owns the longest win streak in the NHL this season, can earn victories in at least seven consecutive games for the 11th time in club history and first since a franchise record-tying 10-game stretch to open the 2006-07 campaign.

* The Rangers (11-8-2, 24 points) look to extend their home win streak to seven games when they host the Islanders (10-7-2, 22 points) at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers own the longest home win streak in the NHL this season and can earn victories in at least seven consecutive games at Madison Square Garden for the first time since an eight-game run from Oct. 26 – Nov. 26, 2017.

* Florida’s Mike Hoffman (9-10—19 in 16 GP) looks to extend his career-high and franchise-record point streak to 17 games when the Panthers (8-7-3, 19 points) visit the Lightning (14-6-1, 29 points) at AMALIE Arena. Hoffman, who was acquired by Florida on June 19, can become the fifth player in NHL history to record a point streak of at least 17 games in his first season with a franchise.

* Montreal’s Max Domi (5-9—14 in 10 GP) can extend his career-high point streak to 11 games when the Canadiens (11-6-4, 26 points) take on the Devils (8-9-2, 18 points) at Prudential Center. Domi, who was acquired by Montreal on June 15, owns the longest point streak by a Canadiens player since Vincent Damphousse from Feb. 7-28, 1996 (5-12—17 in 10 GP) and the longest by a player in his first season with Montreal since Pierre Turgeon from April 5-29, 1995 (11-9—20 in 13 GP).

* Toronto’s Frederik Andersen takes a 7-0-0 road record in 2018-19 into PNC Arena when the Maple Leafs (15-6-0, 30 points) visit the Hurricanes (9-8-3, 21 points). He is the ninth goaltender in NHL history to win each of his first seven road appearances of a season. Only three goaltenders posted longer such runs: Glenn Hall in 1965-66 (9-0-0 on road), Brent Johnson in 2000-01 (8-0-0 on road) and Martin Brodeur in 2009-10 (8-0-0 on road). Andersen has also won six consecutive appearances overall. There are only 10 instances in franchise history of a goaltender posting a personal winning streak of seven or more games.
