TOP SCORERS LEAD THE WAY AS BRUINS, AVALANCHE PICK UP WINS

The high-scoring trio of Mikko Rantanen (6-20—26), Nathan MacKinnon (11-13—24) and Gabriel Landeskog (11-8—19) led Colorado to victory, while the top line of Patrice Bergeron (9-16—25), David Pastrnak (16-7—23) and Brad Marchand (6-14—20) did the same for Boston.

* The Avalanche teammates have combined for 69 points, one more than the Bruins trio. Since 1996-97, only one other season has featured at least one trio from multiple teams combine for 68 or more points through 17 team games: 2005-06. That campaign saw the Senators (DanielAlfredsson,Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza: 38-56—94), Flyers (PeterForsberg, Simon Gagne and Joni Pitkanen: 30-50—80) and Thrashers (MarcSavard, Marian Hossa and Ilya Kovalchuk: 26-42—68) each with at least one set of teammates tally 68 or more points.

* Led by Joe Sakic, Valeri Kamensky and Peter Forsberg, the Avalanche also had three players combine for 69 points through 17 team games in 1995-96 (24-45—69).

* Pastrnak leads the NHL with 16 goals after registering 33 goals in 2017-18. He is the sixth player in the Bruins' 94-season history to record 16 or more goals through 17 team games.

* Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov scored 16 goals in 17 team games to start 2017-18, en route to a 39-goal, 100-point season. The last set of back-to-back seasons with a player scoring at that pace in each campaign came in 1992-93 (DaveAndreychuk and Luc Robitaille) and 1993-94 (BobKudelski and Mike Modano).

GRANLUND, WILD CONTINUE ROAD SUCCESS OVER BLUES

Mikael Granlund scored his tenth goal of the season to break a 2-2 tie in the third period and help the Wild close the longest road trip in franchise history with a 5-2-0 record. This marks the first time the Wild have won at least five games on the same road trip.

* Granlund became the fifth player in franchise history to record 10 or more goals in the team’s opening 17 games of a season, and the second to do so in as many campaigns. Each of the others to do it finished with at least 30 goals: Marian Gaborik (11-9—20 in 2002-03; 30 G), Brian Rolston(11-6—17 in 2006-07; 31 G), Jason Pominville (10-3—13 in 2013-14; 30 G) and Jason Zucker (10-5—15 in 2017-18; 33 G).

* Did You Know? The Wild have trailed in eight of their 11 victories this season, marking the most comeback wins of any team (one more than VAN). Overall, 113 of 259 games this season have seen the winning team trail at some point in the contest (43.6%).

PANTHERS ERUPT WITH FIVE GOALS IN THE SECOND PERIOD

Three Panthers kept point streaks alive during a five-goal second period:

* Mike Hoffman recorded two assists to extend his point streak to 12 games (7-7—14), one back of matching the franchise record set by Pavel Bure from March 10-April 5, 2000 (12-9—21). Hoffman also equaled Carolina’s Sebastian Aho (4-13—17 from Oct. 4-30) for the longest point streak in the NHL this season.

* Evgenii Dadonov had one helper to keep pace with Hoffman in pursuit of the franchise record 6-7—13. He leads with the team with 7-9—16 so far this season (14 GP) and has recorded a point in 20 of 23 games since March 26, tallying 12-13—25 in that span.

* Keith Yandle (0-1—1) stretched his point streak to seven games, setting a franchise record for the longest such run by a defenseman. It is the longest active point streak among NHL defensemen and two shy of matching Brent Burns (3-12—15 in 9 GP from Oct. 9-30) for the longest by a blueliner in 2018-19.

* Sunday marked the ninth time in franchise history that Florida recorded at least five goals in a single frame. The only time they scored at least six goals in a period came on April 5, 2000, when Bure recorded an assist in the second period of a 6-2 win against Boston - the final game of his aforementioned franchise-record point streak.

GALCHENYUK, SPECIAL TEAMS LEAD ARIZONA PAST DEFENDING CHAMPS

Alex Galchenyuk (1-1—2) scored one of two power-play goals for the Coyotes as special teams were once again the story for Arizona, who defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion Capitals one night after falling to the previous Cup winners (4-0 L at PIT).

* The Coyotes went 2-for-6 on the power play, bringing their total number of power-play goals to nine this season – equally the number of shorthanded goals they have scored. They also improved their League-leading penalty kill to 91.8% (45-for-49) after shutting down both power-play opportunities for Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals – who entered with the NHL’s second-ranked power-play percentage.

WHEELER, O’REILLY BRING POINT STREAKS TO DOUBLE DIGITS

Winnipeg’s Blake Wheeler and St. Louis’ Ryan O’Reilly extended their point streaks to 10 games, bringing the total to six double-digit runs in 2018-19. There were 17 point streaks of at least 10 games all of last season, with only four achieved before the end of November.

* Wheeler (2-17—19) followed up a five-point performance Friday with another multi-point game (his fourth straight), tallying two assists Sunday - including one just 29 seconds after his streak of recording a point on 10 consecutive team goals came to an end. Wheeler (168-333—501) became the first player to accumulate 500 points for the Jets since the club relocated to Winnipeg in 2011-12, and one of four to hit the mark for a Winnipeg-based NHL team.

* O’Reilly (8-9—17) became the fifth player to record a point streak of at least 10 games in his first season with the Blues franchise. He leads St. Louis with 8-13—21 overall this season (15 GP) and trails only Phil Goyette (9-20—29), Craig Janney (4-20—24) and Wayne Babych (9-13—22) for the most points by a player through 15 games with the Blues, just ahead of Adam Oates (4-16—20) and Wayne Gretzky (7-12—19).

SNEAK PEEK AT MONDAY’S ACTION

PREDATORS LOOK TO CONTINUE UNDEFEATED ROAD RECORD

After capping a thrilling comeback with a late-tying goal and overtime winner on Saturday - scored by defensemen Roman Josi and Mattias Ekholm, respectively - the League-leading Predators carry an 8-0-0 road record into Anaheim. Nashville already owns the third-longest season-opening road winning streak in NHL history, behind the 2009-10 Devils (9-0-0) and 2006-07 Sabres (10-0-0).

CAM WARD MAKES RETURN TO CAROLINA FOR FIRST TIME

The Hurricanes welcome Cam Ward back to Carolina as a member of the Blackhawks, marking Ward’s first trip to PNC Arena as a member of the visiting team.

* Selected 25th overall by the Hurricanes in the 2002 NHL Draft, Ward spent the first 13 seasons of his NHL career with Carolina and is the all-time franchise leader in win (318), shutouts (27) and games played by a goaltender (668).

* In 2006, Ward became the first starting goaltender to win the Stanley Cup as a rookie since Patrick Roy (1986), while also claiming the Conn Smythe Trophy.

* Two others who skated for that Cup-winning team will be involved in Monday’s game, with Justin Williams now wearing the “C” for Carolina andRod Brind’Amour, that team’s captain, in his first season as Hurricanes head coach. Three other members of that roster are still active NHL players: Matt Cullen (PIT), Andrew Ladd (NYI) and Eric Staal (MIN).
