* It is also just the sixth time since 1999-2000 that a defenseman has scored seven times in his team’s opening 16 games. The others: Shea Weber(2016-17 and 2008-09), Zach Bogosian (2009-10), Nicklas Lidstrom (2002-03) and Rob Blake (1999-2000).

* Patrick Marleau collected an assist on Nazem Kadri’s game-winning goal to become the fifth active NHL player to reach the 600-assist milestone. He joins Mats Sundin, Doug Gilmour, Borje Salming and Norm Ullman as the only players to accomplish the feat while appearing in a game for the Maple Leafs.

WHEELER POSTS FIVE-POINT OUTING IN JETS VICTORY
Jets captain Blake Wheeler (1-4—5) recorded his first career five-point game to lead his club to its second straight win. Wheeler recorded the fifth five-point game of 2018-19 and the third through the first nine days of November, joining Elias Pettersson on Nov. 2 vs. COL and Mark Stone onNov. 6 vs. NJD.

* Wheeler became the fifth different player in Jets/Thrashers franchise history to register five points in a game and the first to do so since the club relocated to Winnipeg in 2011-12. Ilya Kovalchuk, who accomplished the feat four times with the Thrashers, was the last in franchise history to do so on Feb. 28, 2009.

* Wheeler (3-18—21) posted his fifth career game with four assists and trails only the NHL’s leading scorer, Mikko Rantanen (5-19—24), for the most helpers in 2018-19. Last season, Wheeler recorded one such performance en route to finishing tied with Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux for the League lead (68).

* Each of Wheeler’s four-assist outings have come since the 2011-12 season. Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom is the only other player in the NHL with five four-assist games over that span.

Prior to his third-period goal, Wheeler collected an assist on nine consecutive Jets tallies dating to Nov. 1. The only other player in NHL history to do so was Wayne Gretzky, who accomplished the feat twice, including a run of 10 consecutive team goals from Oct. 15-19, 1986.

O’REILLY, DUCLAIR CONTINUE TO IMPRESS WITH NEW CLUBS
Blues forward Ryan O’Reilly and Blue Jackets forward Anthony Duclair each scored in victories to continue their strong early impressions with new clubs:

* O’Reilly extended his point streak to nine games (8-8—16) to become the first Blues player to record a point streak that long since David Backes(8-8—16 in 9 GP) and Alexander Steen (7-11—18 in 10 GP) each did so in 2014-15. Additionally, he is the first player in franchise history to record a point streak of nine or more games in his debut season with the club since Doug Weight (4-9—13 in 9 GP) in 2001-02.

* O’Reilly improved to 8-12—20 this season to become just the fourth player in Blues history to record 20 or more points in his first 14 games with the club. The others: Phil Goyette (8-17—25) in 1969-70, Craig Janney (4-19—23) in 1991-92 and Wayne Babych (9-11—20) in 1978-79.

* Duclair notched the game-winning goal at 5:09 of the third period to improve his numbers to 7-3—10 this season and propel the Blue Jackets into first place in the Metropolitan Division. He became the fourth player in Blue Jackets history to score seven or more goals in his first 16 games with the club, and the third in as many seasons, joining Thomas Vanek (2017-18), Sam Gagner (2016-17) and Antoine Vermette (2008-09).

RED WINGS MOUNT ANOTHER COMEBACK WIN
The Red Wings overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period before Dylan Larkin scored his first career overtime goal with 5.1 seconds remaining in the extra frame to lift the club to its fifth win in six contests.

* Friday’s contest marked the second time in as many games in which the Red Wings overcame a multi-goal deficit to win. Additionally, it was the 23rd instance in franchise history in which the club overcame a multi-goal deficitin the third period to win a regular-season game and first since Oct. 24, 2015 at VAN.

* After going winless through their first seven games to begin 2018-19, Detroit has won six of their last nine contests dating to Oct. 20. Only the Eastern Conference-leading Lightning (8-2-1) have more wins over that span.

WILD CONTINUE STRONG ROAD TRIP
Mikael Granlund (2-1—3) factored on the score sheet for the 12th time in 13 contests to help the Wild improve to 4-2-0 on their current seven-game road trip - the longest in franchise history. Granlund, who is one of three players to post a double-digit point streak this season, has posted a team-leading eight points (4-4—8) in the last six contests.

* Friday marked the third time in franchise history in which the Wild collected four wins on a road trip of five or more games (also 4-1-1 from Jan. 24 - Feb. 9, 2001 and 4-1-0 from Dec. 4 - Dec. 13, 2011). Minnesota will have the opportunity to establish a franchise high for wins on a road trip when they travel to St. Louis Sunday.

PREDATORS, MAPLE LEAFS LOOK TO CONTINUE ROAD SUCCESS
The Predators (7-0-0) and Maple Leafs (6-0-0) each enter Saturday’s games with perfect road records this season. Only one season in NHL history has seen multiple clubs win at least their first seven road games: 2009-10, when the Devils (9-0-0) and Penguins (7-0-0) both did so.

* In addition to the Predators, six other teams in NHL history have won at least their first seven road games of a season. Only the aforementioned 2009-10 Devils and 2006-07 Sabres (10-0-0) have had longer road winning streaks to start a season.

* With a win in Boston Saturday, Toronto would match the longest season-opening road winning streak in franchise history (7-0-0 in 1940-41).

PACIORETTY RETURNS TO MONTREAL TO FACE FORMER CLUB FOR FIRST TIME

The Canadiens welcome Max Pacioretty and the Golden Knights to Bell Centre on Saturday, marking the first time Pacioretty will face his former team since being traded to Vegas on Sept. 10.

* Pacioretty spent the first 10 seasons of his NHL career with the Canadiens recording 226-222—448 in 626 games, including five 30-goal campaigns. He was named the 29th captain in franchise history on Sept. 18, 2015 and held the leadership role until his trade to Vegas.

* Pacioretty was the seventh Canadiens captain to be traded in the NHL’s expansion era (of 14 captains since 1967-68) and first since Vincent Damphousse on March 23, 1999.

* The most goals by a former Canadiens player in his first regular-season game against Montreal is three, a mark set by Leon Rochefort on Nov. 4, 1967 (3-0—3 w/ PHI) and matched by John LeClair on Feb. 25, 1995 (3-0—3 w/ PHI).

* Overall, 69 former Canadiens players have found the back of the net in their first meeting against the club after departing, including seven who had multi-goal efforts: Rochefort, LeClair, Joffre Desilets on Nov. 6, 1938 (2-0—2 w/ CHI), Ralph Backstrom on Feb. 6, 1971 (2-0—2 w/ LAK), Dave Lumley on Dec. 14, 1979 (2-0—2 w/ EDM), Mark Napier on March 12, 1984 (2-0—2 w/ MNS) and Scott Fraser on Jan. 2, 1998 (2-0—2 w/ EDM).
