FLEURY CLIMBS PAST HALL ON ALL-TIME WINS LIST
Playing in the franchise’s 90th regular-season contest, Marc-Andre Fleury made 17 saves to backstop the Golden Knights to their third consecutive victory. Fleury earned his 408th career win to surpass Glenn Hall for sole possession of 10th on the NHL’s all-time wins list. He is the third active netminder to crack the top 10, behind Roberto Luongo and Henrik Lundqvist.

* Fleury has recorded at least 20 wins 10 times, including eight campaigns in which he hit 30 wins and two with at least 40 victories (40 in 2006-07 and 42 in 2011-12). The 33-year-old netminder won 375 regular-season games with Pittsburgh from 2003-17 before joining the Golden Knights for their inaugural season.

* A three-time Stanley Cup champion with Pittsburgh, Fleury is the active leader with 75 career playoff wins, two back of tying Mike Vernon (77) for seventh place all-time.

MacKINNON, AVS TEAMMATES CONTINUE TORRID SCORING PACE TO BEGIN 2018-19

The trio of Nathan MacKinnon (1-2—3), Gabriel Landeskog (2-0—2) and Mikko Rantanen (0-1—1) each found the score sheet to continue their hot starts to the season, helping the Avalanche improve to 5-1-2 in 2018-19 and 3-0-2 in their last five contests.

* MacKinnon (8-6—14) and Rantanen (2-12—14) joined Joe Sakic and Anton Stastny (1988-89) as just the second set of teammates in Avalanche/Nordiques franchise history to open a season with simultaneous eight-game point streaks. The franchise has never had multiple players with simultaneous season-opening point streaks longer than eight games.

* MacKinnon and Rantanen are the 21st set of teammates in NHL history - and second in as many campaigns - to begin a season with simultaneous point streaks of at least eight games. The others since 1993-94: Nikita Kucherov (12-7—19 in 11 GP) and Steven Stamkos (4-17—21 in 11 GP) in 2017-18 with Tampa Bay; Radek Bonk (4-8—12 in 9 GP) and Marian Hossa (5-7—12 in 8 GP) in 2003-04 with Ottawa; Pavol Demitra (7-5—12 in 9 GP) and Doug Weight (4-9—13 in 9 GP) in 2001-02 with St. Louis.

* Since the start of 2017-18, MacKinnon has tallied 47-64—111 in 82 regular-season games (the third-most points in that span). His eight tallies this season are the most by an Avalanche player through the opening eight games of a campaign since the club relocated to Colorado in 1995-96.

FAST START FOR THE FINNS
Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho collected an assist with 2:33 remaining in regulation to extend his season-opening point streak to eight games (4-9—13). Only Ron Francis has recorded a longer such run in franchise history, starting the 1984-85 campaign with 6-8—14 in 11 games for the Whalers.

* Aho (Rauma, Finland) and Colorado’s Mikko Rantanen (Nousiainen, Finland) became the first Finnish-born players to begin a season with a point in each of their team’s first eight games, besting the previous mark set by Risto Siltanen in 1984-85 (2-8—10 w/ HFD) and matched by Jari Kurri in 1992-93 (3-9—12 w/ LAK).

* Rantanen (2-12—14) also joined Kurri as the only Finnish-born players to record 14 points within the first eight team games of a season - Kurri had 6-8—14 in 1983-84 and 7-7—14 in 1984-85 with the Oilers.

DeBRINCAT, KANE EACH TALLY SEVENTH GOAL IN BLACKHAWKS WIN
Alex DeBrincat
(Farmington Hills, Mich.) and Patrick Kane (Buffalo, N.Y.) accounted for three of Chicago’s four goals as the club improved to 3-0-1 on the road this season. They share the team lead with 7-4—11 apiece through seven games.

* DeBrincat, who matched the NHL record for most hat tricks (3) in a season by a U.S.-born rookie in 2017-18, has at least one point in all seven Blackhawks games this season. Only four players in franchise history have had a longer point streak to open a campaign.

* DeBrincat and Kane are the second set of Blackhawks teammates to each score at least seven goals through the team's first seven contests in a season - Bobby Hull (11-6—17) and Doug Mohns (7-6—13) combined for the feat in 1965-66.

* In fact, only 18 other sets of teammates in the modern era (since 1943-44) have each scored seven or more goals through seven team games, including only four others in the past 29 years. Jaromir Jagr (7-8—15) and Tomas Sandstrom (8-3—11) of the 1995-96 Penguins were the last to do so prior to this season. Jagr’s hot start came on the heels of his first Art Ross Trophy win and led to his best statistical season in the NHL, as he finished with career-highs in goals (62), assists (87) and points (149).

WILD, RED WINGS, SENATORS COMPLETE MULTI-GOAL COMEBACKS IN OT

The Wild, Red Wings and Senators overcame early 2-0 deficits for overtime victories. Of the 29 games to extend past regulation this season, 21 have ended in the overtime period (72.4%).

* Mikael Granlund scored at 3:43 of overtime as the Wild improved to 3-0-2 on home ice in 2018-19. Dating to the start of last season, Minnesota owns a 30-6-10 record in 46 regular-season games at Xcel Energy Center, with only two regulation losses in the building since Christmas (20-2-8 since Dec. 27, 2017). Only two other clubs have fewer than 10 regulation losses on home ice since the start of 2017-18: Winnipeg (36-7-3) and Boston (31-8-5).

* Dennis Cholowski (1-1—2) scored the first of three straight Red Wings goals - with Thomas Vanek following 18 seconds later and Dylan Larkin (1-1—2) within 2:03 - and Detroit rebounded after a late tying goal by Florida, emerging with their first victory of the season. Cholowski, the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, has 2-3—5 through six career NHL games, tied with seven-time Norris Trophy winner Nicklas Lidstrom (1-4—5 in 1991-92) for the most points through six career games by a Red Wings defenseman.

* Mark Stone (2-1—3) scored his fifth career overtime goal to help the Senators move to 4-2-1 on the season. Chris Tierney (2-7—9) notched an assist on Stone’s first goal of the game to become the fourth player in Senators history to record a point in each of his first seven games with the club, joining Dany Heatley (22 GP in 2005-06 ), Filip Kuba (8 GP in 2008-09) and Alexandre Daigle (7 GP in 1993-94 ).

ICYMI: The Senators saluted legendary play-by-play announcer Bob Cole, who was calling his final game in Ottawa as he approaches the end of a 50-year career in the broadcast booth.

* Did You Know? Since 2015-16, Detroit is tied for the fourth-most wins after trailing by multiple goals (13), just ahead of Minnesota (12) and three other clubs. Ottawa has seven such wins in that span, while Pittsburgh has the most in that time frame with 23.

PREDATORS, SAROS SILENCE TWO-TIME REIGNING ART ROSS TROPHY WINNER

P.K. Subban collected the game-winning goal (while shorthanded) and Juuse Saros posted a 31-save shutout as the Predators stifled Connor McDavid and the Oilers to earn their fifth consecutive victory.

* The reigning Presidents’ Trophy winners posted their 13th consecutive win against Edmonton dating to Oct. 29, 2014 (EDM: 0-11-2), Nashville’s longest active winning streak against one opponent.

* The Predators improved to 4-0-0 on the road this season. They led the NHL with 25 road wins and 57 road points during the 2017-18 campaign. Only two other clubs have fewer than 15 regulation road losses in that span: Tampa Bay (25-13-4) and Boston (23-14-9).

SNEAK PEEK AT SUNDAY’S ACTION

DUCKS SET TO RETIRE PAUL KARIYA’S NO. 9

Prior to their contest against the Sabres Sunday, the Ducks will honor Hockey Hall of Fame member Paul Kariya by raising his trademark No. 9 to the rafters. Teemu Selanne's No. 8 is the only number previously retired by the Ducks, who are in the midst of celebrating their 25th NHL season.

* Kariya, the first draft pick in franchise history, spent his first nine NHL seasons with Anaheim, including seven seasons as captain. He currently sits fourth on the all-time franchise points list with 300-369—669 in 606 career games with the club, a tenure that included a trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 2003 (a franchise-first).
