VEGAS WINS FRIDAY THE 13TH 2OT THRILLER
Erik Haula scored the first playoff overtime goal in franchise history after 35:23 of extra time to power the Golden Knights to a 2-0 lead in their First Round series against the Kings.

* Elias notes that Vegas became the third team in NHL history to win a playoff game requiring multiple overtimes in its inaugural season. The Golden Knights joined the Blues in Game 3 of the 1968 Quarterfinals vs. PHI (GWG: Larry Keenan) and Game 7 of 1968 Semifinals vs. MNS (GWG: Ron Schock), as well as the Flyers in Game 6 of the 1968 Quarterfinals at STL (GWG: Don Blackburn).

* The Golden Knights also became the fifth franchise in NHL history to win each of their first two playoff games and just the second to do so in its inaugural season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: FIRST 2OT GAME OF 2018 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS
Game 2 between the Kings and Golden Knights was the first contest of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs to require multiple overtimes. Five of the 27 games that extended past regulation in the 2017 postseason needed multiple overtimes, with home teams holding a 3-2 edge in those contests.

* At 95:23 total time, it marked the first overtime game in Golden Knights postseason history and the longest playoff contest in Kings franchise history, eclipsing the mark from their championship-clinching Game 5 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Final vs. NYR (94:43).

* Seven Golden Knights and five Kings registered more than 30 minutes of ice time with Los Angeles defensemen Alec Martinez (44:51) and Oscar Fantenberg (41:03) crossing the 40-minute mark. Martinez passed Drew Doughty (41:41 in Game 2 of 2014 F vs. NYR) for the highest time on ice ever recorded by a Kings player in the postseason (since 1997-98).

* Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick made 54 saves to establish a franchise record for most in a playoff game, eclipsing the mark of 51 he set in Game 5 of the 2011 Conference Quarterfinals at SJS.

ELLIOTT, FLYERS BOUNCE BACK TO EVEN SERIES
Five different skaters found the back of the net led by a three-point effort from Sean Couturier (1-2—3) and Brian Elliott stopped 34 of 35 shots as the Flyers rebounded from a 7-0 loss in Game 1 to even their series with the Penguins with a 5-1 victory.

* Philadelphia became the fourth team in Stanley Cup Playoffs history to suffer a Game 1 loss by a margin of at least seven goals and rebound with a win in Game 2, joining the Canadiens in the 1919 Stanley Cup Final (7-0 L in Game 1, 4-2 W in Game 2), Bruins in the 1953 Semifinals (7-0 L in Game 1, 5-3 W in Game 2) and Kings in the 1980 Preliminary Round (8-1 L in Game 1, 6-3 W in Game 2). Of note, Montreal’s series in the 1919 Stanley Cup Final was cancelled after five games without crowning a champion due to an influenza epidemic.

* Shayne Gostisbehere opened the scoring to snap Penguins goaltender Matt Murray’s franchise-record playoff shutout streak at 225:49, his first postseason goal allowed since Game 4 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. Murray’s run was the longest postseason shutout streak since Ilya Bryzgalovplayed 249:15 without allowing a goal in 2006 (w/ ANA) – the second-longest shutout streak by a goaltender in Stanley Cup Playoffs history.

* At 19 years of age, Nolan Patrick (1-0—1) became the fourth teenager in franchise history to score a playoff goal, joining Dainius Zubrus (4 in 1997), Peter Zezel (1985) and Couturier (2012).

JETS ERUPT FOR THREE GOALS IN THIRD PERIOD, TAKE 2-0 SERIES LEAD
Patrik Laine (1-1—2) found the back of the net for a second consecutive game and the Jets scored three of its four goals in the third period to take a 2-0 lead in their First Round series against the Wild.

* Winnipeg outshot Minnesota 44-17 overall, including a 17-3 margin in the third period. Playing in front of another Winnipeg Whiteout, Game 2 marked the Jets' 11th consecutive win at Bell MTS Place dating to March 2 (regular season and playoffs).

* The Jets earned a win in Game 2 on the heels of their first playoff victory in Jets/Thrashers franchise history. The original Winnipeg Jets held a 2-0 series lead on two occasions after joining the NHL from the WHA – in the 1985 Division Semifinals (3-1 series win vs. CGY) and 1987 Division Semifinals (4-2 series win vs. CGY).

* A 2018 NHL Trade Deadline Day acquisition has scored the game-winning goal for the Jets in both games of the series: Joe Morrow in Game 1, Paul Stastny in Game 2.
