BLUE JACKETS SCORE SEVEN UNANSWERED GOALS TO RALLY PAST OILERS
The Blue Jackets (43-29-5, 91 points) overcame a 3-0 deficit in the first period and scored four more unanswered goals to rally past the Oilers and improve to 11-1-0 in their last 12 games. Columbus, which matched a season high with seven goals, sits third in the Metropolitan Division, one point back of Pittsburgh (43-28-6, 92 points).
* Thomas Vanek (3-1—4) scored his 11th career hat trick and first since being acquired by the Blue Jackets on Feb. 26. Only four active NHL players have recorded more: Alex Ovechkin (20), Marian Gaborik (14), Eric Staal (14) and Evgeni Malkin (12).
* Vanek has scored at least one hat trick with four different franchises (BUF, CBJ, MTL, VAN), two shy of the NHL record held by Bill Guerin (BOS, DAL, NJD, NYI, SJS, STL).
McDAVID ECLIPSES 100 POINTS, PADS LEAD IN ART ROSS RACE
Oilers captain Connor McDavid (40-62—102) collected 1-2—3 to reach the 40-goal mark for the first time in his NHL career and record his second straight 100-point campaign. McDavid, who overtook Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov (38-58—96) for the most points in the NHL on Saturday, opened a six-point lead in the Art Ross Trophy race.
* The 21-year-old became just the seventh player in NHL history to record multiple 100-point campaigns before his 22nd birthday. The others: Wayne Gretzky (4), Dale Hawerchuk (3), Mario Lemieux (3), Sidney Crosby (3), Jimmy Carson (2) and Joe Sakic (2).
* McDavid looks to become the first player to win the Art Ross Trophy in consecutive seasons since Jaromir Jagr claimed the scoring title in four straight campaigns from 1997-98 to 2000-01.
JETS SWEEP SIX-GAME HOMESTAND
The Bruins rallied from 1-0, 3-1 and 4-3 deficits, but Patrik Laine scored the decisive shootout marker to help the Jets (47-19-10, 104 points) sweep their six-game homestand. Winnipeg is second in the Central Division, five points behind Nashville (49-16-11, 109 points).
* The Jets lead the NHL with a franchise-record 30 home wins this season (30-7-2, 62 points) and swept a homestand of at least six games for the first time in club history. Winnipeg became the third team to sweep a six-game homestand this season, joining Florida and Boston.
* Winnipeg improved to 10-2-1 since March 1 and matched its franchise record for most wins in a calendar month, a mark set in December 2000 as the Thrashers and matched in December 2011 as the Jets. Winnipeg has two games remaining in March.
* Brandon Tanev (3-0—3) scored the first hat trick of his NHL career, while Connor Hellebuyck (28 saves) became the first goaltender in Jets/Thrashers franchise history to reach the 40-win mark in a season (40-11-9; 2.38 GAA, .923 SV%, 6 SO).
BLUES, DEVILS SECURE KEY WINS IN PURSUIT OF A PLAYOFF BERTH
The Blues (43-28-5, 91 points) and Devils (40-28-8, 88 points) each secured key wins as they pursue a berth in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs:
* Vladimir Tarasenko (2-0—2) scored his franchise-record ninth career regular-season overtime goal as the Blues earned their sixth straight victory, while simultaneously snapping the Sharks’ win streak at eight games. St. Louis leapfrogged Colorado (41-27-8, 90 points) and Anaheim (39-25-13, 91 points) for the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
* Tarasenko (31-31—62) eclipsed the 30-goal mark for the fourth time in his NHL career. He became the fifth player in franchise history to record at least four 30-goal seasons with the Blues, joining Garry Unger (8), Brett Hull (8), Bernie Federko (7) and Brian Sutter (6).
* Kyle Palmieri (2-1—3) tied the game in the third period and Stefan Noesen scored the go-ahead goal with 1:33 remaining in regulation to lift the Devils to their third straight win. New Jersey occupies the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference and is three points ahead of Florida (39-28-7, 85 points).
* Taylor Hall (33-52—85) collected three helpers to become the first Devils player to eclipse the 50-assist mark in a season since Patrik Elias in 2011-12 (52). His 85 points are the most by a Devils player since Zach Parise in 2008-09 (45-49—94).
LEAGUE-LEADING PREDATORS INCH CLOSER TO FRANCHISE RECORDS
The Wild tied the game with 3:15 remaining in regulation, but Kyle Turris (0-1—1) scored the decisive shootout marker to power the League-leading Predators (49-16-11, 109 points) to a 10-2-2 record since March 1. Nashville moved within one point and two wins of matching its single-season franchise records, set in 2006-07 (51-23-8, 110 points).
* Nashville, which has two games remaining in March, moved within one win of matching its franchise record for most in a calendar month (11), a mark set in March 2010 and matched in January 2012.
RESURGENT STAAL REACHES 40-GOAL MARK
Wild forward Eric Staal (40-33—73) scored to reach the 40-goal mark for the third time in his NHL career and first since 2008-09 (40 w/ CAR). He is just the second player in League history to have at least eight seasons between 40-goal campaigns, joining Gordie Howe.
* Staal became the second player in franchise history to reach the 40-goal mark in a season, joining Marian Gaborik in 2007-08 (42).

MAPLE LEAFS HOST SURGING PANTHERS
The Maple Leafs (45-24-7, 97 points) can establish single-season franchise records for overall and home wins with a victory over the surging Panthers (39-28-7, 85 points), who own a 13-3-1 record in their last 17 games.
* Auston Matthews (29-24—53) aims to reach the 30-goal mark for the second time in as many seasons. He would become the third Maple Leafs player to score at least 30 goals in each of his first two NHL seasons among players to debut with the franchise, joining Wendel Clark (1985-86, 1986-87) and Daniel Marois (1988-89, 1989-90).
* Vincent Trocheck (30-39—69) looks to become the second Panthers player to reach the 70-point mark this season, joining Aleksander Barkov (26-49—75). It would mark the second time in franchise history where multiple Florida players recorded at least 70 points in a season and first since 1999-00 (Pavel Bure, Ray Whitney and Viktor Kozlov).
