LEAGUE-LEADING LIGHTNING REACH 100-POINT MARK

Nikita Kucherov tied the game in the third period and scored the decisive goal in the shootout as the League-leading Lightning(48-17-4, 100 points) extended their point streak to 10 games (9-0-1) and became the first team to reach the 100-point mark this season. The Lightning required the fewest games in franchise history to reach 100 points in a season (69 GP), eclipsing the mark of 77 contests set in 2014-15 (47-23-7, 101 points).

LAINE REACHES 40-GOAL MARK, EXTENDS POINT STREAK

Jets forward Patrik Laine scored his 40th goal of the season to extend his point streak to 11 games (15-6—21), a run that includes at least one goal in each of his last five outings. He reached the 40-goal mark for the first time in his NHL career and moved into a tie with Washington’s Alex Ovechkin (40) for first place in the tightly-contested Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy race.

* Laine became the ninth different player in NHL history to reach the 40-goal mark in a season before celebrating his 20th birthday and just the third to do so in that last 32 years (since 1985-86), joining Rick Nash in 2003-04 (41 w/ CBJ) and Auston Matthewsin 2016-17 (40 w/ TOR). Only two teenagers in NHL history have score more overall goals than Laine.

* Laine matched the Jets/Thrashers franchise record for longest point streak (11 GP), a mark set by Marian Hossa in 2006-07 (w/ ATL) and matched by Blake Wheeler in 2015-16 (w/ WPG).

MAPLE LEAFS, PANTHERS EXTEND STREAKS, SET FRANCHISE RECORDS
The Maple Leafs (40-22-7, 87 points) and Panthers (34-25-7, 75 points) both earned victories to extend their respective home win streaks:

* Nazem Kadri (2-0—2) scored twice and Morgan Rielly (0-3—3) matched a career high with three assists to power the Maple Leafs to their 10th consecutive victory at Air Canada Centre. Toronto, who has recorded 10 consecutive home wins for the first time in franchise history, also matched the franchise mark for the fewest games required to reach 40 wins (69 GP). The other instance: 1950-51 (40-16-13 in 69 GP).

* Jonathan Huberdeau (1-1—2) and Vincent Trocheck (0-2—2) each collected two points and Trocheck scored the winning goal in the shootout to help the Panthers set a franchise record with their eighth straight home win. Florida improved to 15-3-1 in its last 19 contests and kept pace with the Devils (35-26-8, 78 points), who occupy the first Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference.

BRUINS ERUPT FOR SEVEN GOALS TO SWEEP SIX-GAME HOMESTAND

The Bruins (43-15-8, 94 points) erupted for seven goals, including four in the third period, to sweep their six-game homestand. Boston is second in the Atlantic Division, six points back of Tampa Bay (48-17-4, 100 points) for first place.

* The Bruins swept a homestand of at least six games for the first time in franchise history and became the second team to accomplish the feat this season, joining the Panthers from Feb. 22 – March 4 (6-0-0). Prior to 2017-18, only five teams in NHL history had won every contest during a six-game homestand: Philadelphia in 1984-85, Edmonton in 1986-87, Detroit in 2011-12, Los Angeles in 2014-15 and Florida in 2015-16.

MacKINNON ECLIPSES 80-POINT MARK AS AVALANCHE EXTEND STREAK
Nathan MacKinnon (0-2—2) and Mikko Rantanen (1-2—3) combined for 1-4—5 to help the Avalanche (36-24-8, 80 points) extend their point streak to seven games (4-0-3). Colorado leapfrogged Los Angeles (37-26-5, 79 points) to move into the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

* MacKinnon extended his personal point streak to eight games (7-9—16) and is tied for fourth in the NHL with 32-49—81 this season (60 GP). He became the first Avalanche player to eclipse the 80-point mark in a season since 2006-07, when Joe Sakic(36-64—100) and Andrew Brunette (27-56—83) did so.

* MacKinnon (23-36—59 in 32 GP) leads the NHL in home points this season, while Rantanen (18-30—48 in 33 GP) ranks third in that category.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Avalanche and Coyotes combined for four goals in the opening 4:22 of the first period, the fastest four goals to begin a game since Feb. 26, 1997.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS ESTABLISH ANOTHER NHL RECORD WITH ROAD WIN

Deryk Engelland tied the game with 4:14 remaining in regulation and Erik Haula scored the decisive marker in the shootout to help the Pacific Division-leading Golden Knights (44-19-5, 93 points) establish an NHL record for most road wins by a team in its inaugural season.

* Marc-Andre Fleury (31 saves) earned the 399th victory of his NHL career to move within one of becoming the 13th goaltender in League history (third active) to reach the 400-win milestone. His 55 career shootout wins are the third-most in NHL history, trailing only Ryan Miller (59) and Henrik Lundqvist (58).

QUENNEVILLE MOVES INTO SECOND ON ALL-TIME GAMES COACHED LIST

Chicago’s Joel Quenneville appeared in his 1,608th career game as a head coach to pass Al Arbour (1,607) for sole possession of second place on the NHL’s all-time list.
