GOALS GALORE

Boston’s Brad Marchand (3-2—5), Winnipeg’s Patrik Laine (3-0—3) and Florida’s Nick Bjugstad (3-0—3) each scored hat tricks on Tuesday. It marked the first day to feature three NHL hat tricks since March 14, 2016, when James Neal (NSH), Michael Frolik (CGY) and Jakob Silfverberg (ANA) accomplished the feat.

* Marchand’s performance was the 22nd instance of a player recording five points in a game this season. The last season to conclude with more such occurrences was 2007-08 (24).

MARCHAND CAPS FIVE-POINT NIGHT WITH SECOND STRAIGHT OT GOAL

Brad Marchand (3-2—5) scored his third goal of the contest 34 seconds into overtime as the Bruins (41-15-8, 90 points) improved to 4-0-0 on their season-high six-game homestand. Boston is second in the Atlantic Division, six points back of Tampa Bay (46-17-4, 96 points) for first place.

* Marchand has scored an overtime goal in each of the Bruins’ last two games and established a franchise record with 11 career regular-season overtime goals overall (all w/ BOS). He became the third player in franchise history to score a hat trick in the regular season which included an overtime goal, joining Ken Hodge Jr. (Feb. 5, 1991 vs. EDM) and David Krejci (March 1, 2012 vs. NJD).

* Marchand matched his single-game career highs for goals (3x) and points (4x). Only five players in franchise history have recorded as many games with at least five points, all of whom are members of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

PREDATORS ESTABLISH FRANCHISE RECORD FOR LONGEST WIN STREAK

Pekka Rinne turned aside all 26 shots he faced to backstop the Western Conference-leading Predators (43-14-9, 95 points) to their ninth consecutive victory, the longest win streak in franchise history. Nashville remained a point back of Tampa Bay (46-17-4, 96 points) for first place in the NHL standings.

* Rinne improve to 36-9-4 this season (2.29 GAA, .928 SV%, 7 SO), including wins in each of his last seven appearances. His seven shutouts are tied for the most among all goaltenders in 2017-18 and equaled the franchise record for most in a season, a mark he set in 2008-09 and matched in 2009-10.

LAINE SCORES NATURAL HAT TRICK TO EXTEND POINT STREAK

Patrik Laine scored all three of Winnipeg’s goals to help the Jets (40-17-9, 89 points) extend their road point streak to seven games (6-0-1), including four consecutive wins. Winnipeg established a Jets/Thrashers franchise record for fewest games to reach the 40-win mark in a season (66 GP) and are second in the Central Division, six points behind Nashville (43-14-9, 95 points) for first place.

* Laine extended his point streak to a career-high nine games (13-6—19), a run that includes at least two goals in each of his last three outings. He became the second player in franchise history to score multiple goals in three consecutive team games, joiningIlya Kovalchuk from Jan. 4-7, 2006 (w/ ATL).

* Laine registered the first natural hat trick and fourth three-goal game of his NHL career. He became the third player in NHL history to score at least four hat tricks before celebrating his 20th birthday.

* Overall, Laine is second in the NHL with 38 goals this season. The last Jets/Thrashers player to score as many in a single campaign was Kovalchuk in 2008-09 (43 w/ ATL).

LEAGUE-LEADING LIGHTNING EXTEND POINT STREAK TO EIGHT GAMES

The Panthers overcame a 4-2 deficit in the third period, but Brayden Point scored a highlight-reel goal in overtime as the League-leading Lightning (46-17-4, 96 points) extended their point streak to eight games (7-0-1), including three consecutive wins.

* Point scored his fourth overtime goal and 10th game winner of 2017-18. He became the second player in franchise history to record as many such goals in a season, joining Steven Stamkos in 2011-12 (12 GWG, including 5 OTG).

* Yanni Gourde (2-1—3) scored his 23rd and 24th goals of 2017-18 to move into a tie for the franchise record for most in a season by a rookie.
