FORSBERG CAPS OFF PREDATORS RALLY WITH PENALTY SHOT WINNER

Nashville scored three consecutive goals in the final 10:54 of regulation to overcome a 3-0 deficit and Filip Forsberg converted on a penalty shot in overtime as the Central Division-leading Predators (34-12-9, 77 points) extended their point streak to seven games (5-0-2). Nashville overcame a deficit of at least three goals in the third period to win for the fourth time in franchise history and first since Jan. 31, 2012 at MIN (5-4 W).

* Forsberg became the 13th player in NHL history to score a penalty shot goal in overtime during the regular season and second to do so with the Predators, joining David Legwand on Dec. 23, 2000 at NYR (3-2 OT W). Only one other player has converted on a penalty shot in overtime this season: Toronto’s William Nylander on Jan. 24 at CHI (3-2 OT W).

* Pekka Rinne (28 saves) improved to 10-0-1 in his last 11 appearances dating to Jan. 6 (1.95 GAA, .934 SV%, 2 SO). Rinne’s 11-game run is one shy of the franchise record for longest point streak by a goaltender, a mark he set from Jan. 7 – Feb. 7, 2012 (11-0-1).

FAULK (HAT TRICK) POWERS HURRICANES’ SEVEN-GOAL OUTBURST

Carolina erupted for a season-high seven goals – powered by a natural hat trick from Justin Faulk (3-0—3) – as the Hurricanes(27-21-9, 63 points) picked up their third straight win. Carolina occupies the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

* Faulk – who entered Tuesday’s contest with four goals this season (56 GP) – scored Carolina’s second, third and fourth tallies of the game to become the fifth defenseman in Hurricanes/Whalers franchise history to score a hat trick and first to record a natural hat trick. In fact, Faulk became just the 10th different defenseman in NHL history to score a natural hat trick.

PENGUINS EXTEND HOME WIN STREAK TO NINE GAMES

Seven different skaters collected at least two points to lead the Penguins (32-22-4, 68 points) to their ninth consecutive victory at PPG Paints Arena. Pittsburgh is second in the Metropolitan Division standings, three points back of Washington (32-17-7, 71 points).

* The Penguins recorded a home win streak of at least nine games for the ninth time in club history and first since a franchise-record 13-game run from Nov. 15, 2013 – Jan. 15, 2014. Only one team has posted a longer home win streak this season: Washington from Dec. 2, 2017 – Jan. 9, 2018 (10-0-0).

* Sidney Crosby (0-3—3) and Evgeni Malkin (1-1—2) each found the scoresheet on Tuesday. Crosby (5-25—30 in 18 GP) and Malkin (17-12—29 in 18 GP) are first and second in League scoring since Jan. 1.

* Matt Murray (30 saves) improved to 5-0-1 in six appearances since making his return to the Penguins lineup on Jan. 30 (2.80 GAA, .916 SV%).

JETS ALSO STAGE RALLY TO KEEP PACE WITH PREDATORS

Mark Scheifele (2-1—3) tied the game while shorthanded with 14.4 seconds remaining in regulation and assisted on the overtime winner by Tyler Myers as the Jets (33-15-9, 75 points) improved to 4-2-1 on their franchise-long 10-game homestand. Winnipeg is second in the Central Division standings, two points back of Nashville (34-12-9, 77 points).

* The Jets improved to 21-5-2 (44 points) at Bell MTS Place in 2017-18, three home wins shy of matching their franchise record for most in a season.

HALL EXTENDS POINT STREAK IN DEVILS VICTORY

Taylor Hall (2-0—2) tied the contest with 1:21 remaining in regulation and Drew Stafford scored the only goal of the shootout as the Devils (28-20-8, 64 points) snapped a four-game slide (0-4-0). New Jersey occupies the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference standings and moved within three points of Philadelphia (28-19-10, 66 points) for third place in the Metropolitan Division.

* Hall extended his point streak to eight games (6-5—11) and has recorded at least one point in 15 consecutive appearances dating to Jan. 2 (11-12—23), but missed three contests in the middle of the run due to injury.

BRUINS WIN AFTER HONORING 1977-78 TEAM

On the night Boston celebrated the 40th anniversary of its 1977-78 team, Riley Nash and Patrice Bergeron each scored twice to help the Bruins (35-12-8, 78 points) improve to 14-2-2 (30 points) since Jan. 1. Boston – who has posted the most wins and points among all teams in 2018 – moved within one point of League-leading Tampa Bay (38-16-3, 79 points) for first place in the Atlantic Division.

* Bergeron boosted his 2017-18 totals to 27-24—51 (50 GP), including 16-10—26 since Jan. 1 (18 GP). Bergeron has recorded at least one point in 15 of 18 games in 2018, including seven multi-point performances.

* Tuukka Rask (28 saves) improved to 23-9-4 this season (2.11 GAA, .924 SV%, 2 SO), including a 20-1-2 mark in his last 23 decisions.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS POST 20TH HOME WIN

Down 2-1 through 40 minutes, the Western Conference-leading Golden Knights (37-15-4, 78 points) scored four unanswered goal to defeat the Blackhawks and improve to 20-4-2 (42 points) at T-Mobile Arena this season. Vegas became the third team in NHL history to post 20 home wins in its inaugural season, joining the Hartford Whalers in 1979-80 (22) and Los Angeles Kings in 1967-68 (20).

WILD EXTEND FRANCHISE-RECORD HOME POINT STREAK

The Wild (31-19-6, 68 points) raced to a 3-0 lead in the opening 6:17 of the first period and held off a Rangers rally to extend their franchise-record home point streak to 13 games (10-0-3). Minnesota – whose 13-game run is the longest home point streak by any team this season – occupies the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference standings.
