AVALANCHE EXTEND WIN STREAK TO 10 GAMES
Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves against his former club and Blake Comeau scored the go-ahead goal with 7:43 remaining in regulation as theAvalanche won their 10th straight game, extending the longest win streak in the NHL this season. Colorado, who began their run on Dec. 29 with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Maple Leafs, sit two victories shy of matching the longest win streak in franchise history.

* The Avalanche (27-16-3, 57 points) occupy the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference standings but also sit just two points back of the Blues (28-18-3, 59 points) for third place in the Central Division – where only six points separate the top six clubs.

* Bernier extended his career-high win streak to nine games (1.53 GAA, .955 SV%, 1 SO), matching the longest such run by a goaltender in 2017-18 (Andrei Vasilevskiy: 9-0-0 from Oct. 9-30 w/ TBL). Bernier became just the third goaltender in Avalanche/Nordiques franchise history to record at least nine consecutive wins. The others: Patrick Roy in 1998-99 (11-0-0) and Stephane Fiset in 1995-96 (9-0-0).

* The Avalanche look to extend their win streak to 11 games when they visit the Canadiens (19-22-6, 44 points) at Bell Centre tonight. In 2016-17, four clubs posted double-digit win streaks including two who extended past 10 games; the Wild were 12-0-0 before having their streak end against the Blue Jackets, whose victory over Minnesota was part of a 16-0-0 run (the second-longest win streak in NHL history).

MRAZEK JOINS RARE COMPANY WITH SECOND STRAIGHT SHUTOUT
Petr Mrazek turned aside all 37 shots he faced to record his second straight shutout (also Jan. 14 at CHI) and backstop the Red Wings past the Devils at Prudential Center.

* Mrazek recorded consecutive shutouts for the first time in his NHL career and became the first Red Wings goaltender to do so since Dominik Hasek in 2007-08. Mrazek also became just the fifth goaltender in franchise history to record consecutive shutouts with each game taking place on the road.

VASILEVSKIY RECORDS LEAGUE-LEADING SEVENTH SHUTOUT
Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 40 shots he faced to record his League-leading seventh shutout of the season and help the Lightning (32-12-3, 67 points) reclaim first place in the NHL standings.

* Vasilevskiy (40 GP) matched the franchise record for most shutouts in a season, a mark set by Nikolai Khabibulin in 2001-02 (70 GP). In 2016-17, Washington’s Braden Holtby (9) and Boston’s Tuukka Rask (8) were the only goaltenders with more than seven shutouts.

* Vasilevskiy improved to 28-9-2 this season to increase his League lead in wins. He registered the sixth 40+ save shutout in franchise history and second of his career.

BARZAL REACHES 50-POINT MARK
Islanders forward Mathew Barzal collected an assist to become the 14th player – and first rookie – to reach the 50-point mark this season (16-34—50 in 49 GP). Only two rookies in franchise history have recorded 50 points in a season in fewer games than Barzal: Bryan Trottier in 1975-76 (16-34—50 in 40 GP) and Mike Bossy in 1977-78 (29-21—50 in 40 GP).

AROUND THE LEAGUE ROUND UP
* Jason Zucker (GWG) scored for the fourth consecutive contest (4-0—4) to help the Wild extend their overall and home point streaks to six (4-0-2) and nine (7-0-2) games, respectively. Their longest home point streak in franchise history is 10 games, a mark set from Feb. 19 – March 10, 2009 (6-0-4) and matched from Jan. 2 – March 10, 2014 (9-0-1).

* Jack Eichel scored at 1:30 of overtime to extend his point streak to six games (4-6—10) and power the Sabres past the Flames. Eichel, who leads the Sabres in goals, assists and points in 2017-18 (19-26—45 in 47 GP), is one tally shy of reaching the 20-goal mark for the third time in as many NHL seasons.

* Nick Cousins (2-1—3) registered a career-high three points – including the overtime winner – to help the Coyotes pick up their second straight win, extend their point streak to five games (2-0-3) and improve to 3-1-4 in 2018.

DAHLIN, SVECHNIKOV TOP MID-SEASON DRAFT RANKINGS
RasmusDahlin, a defenseman with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League, and Andrei Svechnikov, a forward for the Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts, rank No. 1 among International and North American Skaters, respectively, as the NHL Central Scouting Bureau released its mid-season rankings on Monday. The full rankings include the top 217 skaters and 31 goaltenders in North America as well as the top 125 skaters and 15 goaltenders internationally.

Boston, who began its 16-game point streak (12-0-4) on Dec. 16, aims to record at least a point in 17+ consecutive games for the sixth time in franchise history. Only six clubs in the past 20 seasons have registered a point streak of 17+ games: TBL in 2003-04 (18 GP), DET in 2005-06 (20 GP), SJS in 2007-08 (20 GP), VAN in 2010-11 (17 GP), CHI in 2012-13 (24 GP) and CBJ in 2016-17 (18 GP).

FLYERS LOOK TO STAY HOT, CLIMB STANDINGS
The Flyers (23-16-8, 54 points), winners of seven of their past eight games, look to continue their recent hot stretch when they visit the Red Wings(19-20-7, 45 points). Philadelphia has three players among the top 20 in League scoring, with Jakub Voracek (8-45—53), Claude Giroux (14-41—55) and Sean Couturier (26-21—47) guiding the offense. Voracek and Giroux rank first and third in the NHL in assists, respectively, while Couturier shares fourth in goals. The Flyers hold the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference and sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division, where seven teams are separated by only eight points.

WESTERN CONFERENCE CLUBS AIM TO CONTINUE RECENT SUCCESS
* The Golden Knights (31-11-4, 66 points) look to increase their lead atop the Western Conference standings when they host the Blue Jackets (26-18-3, 55 points) at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas sits two wins and four home victories shy of tying the NHL records for most by a team in its inaugural season.

* The Predators (28-11-6, 62 points) aim to extend their win streak to a season-high six games when they host the League-leading Lightning (32-12-3, 67 points) at Bridgestone Arena. Nashville last recorded a win streak of at least six games from Feb. 7-17, 2015 (6-0-0).

* The Sharks (26-14-6, 58 points), who rank second in the Pacific Division behind the Golden Knights, put their home point streak on the line when they host the Central Division-leading Jets (28-13-7, 63 points) at SAP Center. San Jose owns a record of 8-0-2 in their last 10 home games, including five consecutive wins. Winnipeg, meanwhile, is 8-2-1 since Dec. 27 including wins in each of its two outings since returning from its ‘bye week’ on Saturday.
