FLAMES EXTEND SEASON-HIGH WIN STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES
Dougie Hamilton scored twice to push his point streak to five contests (4-2—6) and help the Flames (25-16-4, 54 points) extend their season-high win streak to seven games, the longest active run in the NHL. Calgary’s seven consecutive victories is its longest win streak since a 10-game run from Feb. 21 – March 13, 2017.

* Elias notes that the Flames, who earned each of their last four wins as visitors and will host the Jets in their next contest, swept a road trip of at least four games for the first time since Dec. 9-18, 2007 (6-0-0). Only one other team has swept a four-game road trip this season (LAK from Nov. 28 – Dec. 3).

* Mike Smith (38 saves) stretched his personal win streak to six games dating to Dec. 31 (1.99 GAA, .941 SV%) and has allowed no more than two goals in each of his last four outings. Smith improved to 20-13-3 overall (2.46 GAA, .924 SV%, 2 SO) and reached the 20-win mark for the third time in his NHL career.

* Johnny Gaudreau collected two assists to push his point streak to seven games (2-11—13) and boost his totals to 15-39—54 overall this season (45 GP). Only Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov has recorded more points in 2017-18.

KESSEL REACHES 20-GOAL MARK IN PENGUINS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE WIN
Phil Kessel (1-1—2) scored the game-winning goal for the second straight contest and added an assist to help the Penguins pick up their fourth consecutive win.

* Kessel is tied for seventh in the NHL with 20-32—52 in 2017-18 (46 GP) and has reached the 20-goal mark in 10 straight seasons. Elias notes that Kessel (Madison, Wis.) became the third U.S.-born player in NHL history to reach the 20-goal mark in 10 or more consecutive seasons.

* Kessel (316-385—701 in 878 GP) also became the second active U.S.-born player to eclipse 700 career points, joining Blackhawks forwardPatrick Kane (303-494—797 in 785 GP). Wild forward and Virginia, Minn. native Matt Cullen (252-447—699 in 1,411 GP) is one point away from reaching the milestone.

MRAZEK, RED WINGS BLANK BLACKHAWKS AT UNITED CENTER
Petr Mrazek turned aside all 27 shots he faced to record his second shutout of the season (12th career) and help the Red Wings improve to 5-2-0 in their last seven games. Mrazek became the first Red Wings goaltender to blank the Blackhawks in a road game since Dominik Hasek on Dec. 23, 2001 (5-0 W).

CANUCKS RALLY PAST WILD
Thomas Vanek tied the contest with 3:12 remaining in regulation and Brandon Sutter scored the overtime winner in his return to the lineup to power the Canucks to their second straight win on the heels of a five-game slide (0-4-1).

* Elias notes that there have been 65 game-tying goals scored in the final five minutes of regulation this season, with teams who score these goals owning a 35-1-29 edge in those contests.

* The Bruins – who own a 9-0-3 record in their last 12 games – aim to stretch their season-high point streak to 13 contests when they host the Stars (24-17-3, 51 points) at TD Garden. Boston can match the longest point streak in the NHL this season, a mark set by Vegas from Dec. 3 – Jan. 2 (12-0-1).
