TEAM USA WINS THRILLER IN COLUMBUS
Captain Joe Pavelski (1-1—2) scored the eventual game-winning goal at 15:54 of the second period and Jonathan Quick (32 SV) and Ben Bishop (9 SV) combined for 41 saves to lead Team USA past Team Canada at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. The clubs will meet again tonight at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa (7 p.m., ESPN3, SN, TVAS).


* “The atmosphere here was awesome. Columbus has been great for us this week. It’s nice to hear the cannon a few times tonight.” – Pavelski

* Forwards Patrick Kane (1-1—2), Derek Stepan (1-1—2) and Zach Parise (1-0—1) also scored for Team USA, who were outshot 28-8 over the final two periods and 43-25 overall.

* ICYMI: Team USA forward Ryan Kesler and defenseman Ryan McDonagh each made desperation saves in front of an empty net.

TEAM SWEDEN, TEAM CZECH REPUBLIC HOST FINAL GAMES IN EUROPE
Team Sweden and Team Czech Republic will host the final pre-tournament games overseas when they face Team Finland and Team Russia, respectively.

* Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist will start for Team Sweden when the club welcomes Team Finland to Scandinavium in Gothenburg (12 p.m., ESPN3, SN1, TVAS2). Lundqvist, who will make his second start in the building since leaving Sweden to play in the NHL, called the arena home for five seasons while playing in the Swedish Hockey League and also witnessed his first live professional hockey game there at age five.

* In Prague, goaltenders Michal Neuvirth (Team Czech Republic) and Semyon Varlamov(Team Russia) are expected to start in the second half of their pre-tournament doubleheader at O2 Arena (10:30 a.m. ET, ESPN3, SN360, TVAS).
