HENRIK'S RECORD START BOOSTS CANUCKS
Henrik Sedin recorded an assist on brother Daniel’s game-winning goal 5:01 into the third period as the Canucks made a winning return to home ice following a successful seven-game road trip (5-1-1). Henrik has 17 points this month (3-14--17), surpassing his career high in October (6-10--16 in 2009). He leads the NHL in assists and ranks third in the overall scoring race behind Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby (8-12--20) and Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos (8-9--17).

DYNAMIC DUOS
The Sedins have earned points on the same goal 10 times this season, among the League's top duos in that category:

Teammates Earning Points on Same Goal (2013-14):
11 - Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis, Tampa Bay
10 - Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Vancouver
10 - Phil Kessel and James van Riemsdyk, Toronto
9 - Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin, Washington
9 - Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, Anaheim
9 - Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, Dallas
9 - Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz, Pittsburgh

RUFF BACK IN BUFF
Dallas coach Lindy Ruff earned a victory in his return to the city where he coached for 15 seasons. Ruff started behind the Buffalo bench in 1997 until he was relieved of his duties on Feb. 20, finishing with the most wins in franchise history (571-432-162). He also captained the team in three of his 10 seasons in a Buffalo uniform (102-183--285 in 608 games from 1979-89). The 2006 Jack Adams Award winner guided Buffalo to eight postseason appearances in his time behind the bench, including a trip to the 1999 Stanley Cup Final versus Dallas.

THE STARS ALIGN
Dallas won their first regular-season game in Buffalo (1-5-1-1) since Oct. 7, 1997 when Ed Belfour backstopped the Stars to a 4-2 victory over Lindy Ruff’s Sabres in his home debut as the team’s new coach.

HOME-AND-HOME
The Blackhawks scored four goals in the final two periods, highlighted by a Brandon Saad spin-o-rama assist on Patrick Kane’s tally, to earn a 5-1 victory in the second half of a home-and-home versus the Wild – Chicago lost 5-3 at home Saturday. Linemates Saad (1-1--2), Kane (1-1--2) and Brandon Pirri (0-2--2) combined for six points.

PARTY SPOILER
Peter Budaj made 27 saves for his 11th career shutout as the Canadiens spoiled the Rangers’ home opener at the newly-renovated Madison Square Garden. Budaj has won 10 consecutive decisions (eight in 2012-13, two in 2013-14), becoming the first Canadiens goaltender to accomplish the feat since Michel 'Bunny' Larocque in 1977-78 (Elias Sports Bureau).

LOOSE PUCKS
Sidney Crosby assisted on two Pittsburgh goals and now has 32 career points (7-25--32) in 24 games versus Carolina… Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik recorded 0-3--3 for his second-career three-point game... Nathan Gerbe scored the lone Hurricanes goal in his 200th NHL game… Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen improved to 4-0-1 in his last five starts... Sabres captain Steve Ott, who was drafted by the Stars in 2000 (25th overall) and spent 10 seasons (2002-2012) with the team, scored in his first game versus his former squad… Vancouver's Roberto Luongo stopped an Alex Ovechkin penalty shot just 89 seconds into the game. Luongo now has 21 saves on 24 career penalty shots (87.5%), tied with Buffalo's Ryan Miller (14-for-16, 87.5%) for the top percentage among active goaltenders facing 10-or-more attempts.
