from Michael Traikos at the National Post,
One is located in the Nevada desert. The other in a part of French-speaking Canada, where tourists can actually sleep in hotels created entirely of ice. But one thing they have in similar, at least according to some of the NHL’s biggest stars, is that both cities would make ideal destinations for possible expansion.
“I think both places are unique,” said New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. “I’ve been to Quebec, I went there for the world championships, so I’ve been to the city. Great town, great hockey atmosphere. So for that reason, I think it will be amazing to have that team back in the league, because of the history of that town.
“I think both of them are special,” said Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf. “Quebec City, I’ve heard is such a passionate fan base and Vegas would be pretty good for pro sports. It would be the first mainstream pro sporting team there out of the leagues … for us to be the first team there would be exciting.”
“I have to say they both would be very exciting for hockey,” said Boston captain Zdeno Chara. “I think it will be fun to play in Vegas. I think it will be very passionate to play in Quebec. It’s a tough one to pick one.”
