NHL Conference Finals Matchups Exhibiting Value On Secondary Ticket Market

05/13/2016 at 4:45pm EDT

From Joe Sudberg,

The Conference Finals matchups are set; the Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins will square off in the Eastern Conference Finals, while the St. Louis Blues will face the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Finals. To reach this point, St. Louis and San Jose both needed to win Game 7s, but both Game 7 wins surprisingly happened in blowout fashion. St. Louis routed Dallas 6-1 on the road, while San Jose won 5-0 at home.

Tampa Bay is playing in its second straight Eastern Conference Finals, while Pittsburgh returns to its first Conference Finals in three years. Pittsburgh earned a spot in the Conference Finals by ousting the top-seeded Washington Capitals in six games, and Tampa Bay took care of the New York Islanders in five games. Conference Finals action begins this weekend, so hockey fans will not have much downtime between games. Game previews for Games 1 and 2 in both conferences are presented below.

5/13/16 Game 1: Eastern Conference Finals I Consol Energy Arena I Get-In: $116

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be played at Con Energy Arena in Pittsburgh on Friday, May 13. On TiqIQ, Penguins tickets for Game 1 start at $116. These two teams have squared off only one time in the NHL Playoffs, but it was a very memorable series for Lightning fans. Tampa Bay overcame a 3-1 series deficit and won two games at Consol Energy Arena to win the series in seven games. Pittsburgh will look to erase those bad memories with a strong start in this series at home.

5/15/16 Game 1: Western Conference Finals I Scottrade Center I Get-In: $161

By virtue of its Game 7 victory over Dallas, the St. Louis Blues will host Games 1 and 2 at the Scottrade Center. On TiqIQ, Blues tickets for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals start at $161. During the regular season, St. Louis dropped two of three games against a rugged San Jose squad, so they’ll have to play their best hockey in order to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. That may not be an issue for a St. Louis squad that is battle-tested and is peaking at the right time. In fact, St. Louis has already played and eliminated two of the best teams (Chicago, Dallas) in the playoffs.

5/16/16 Game 2: Eastern Conference Finals I Consol Energy Arena I Get-In: $108

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals will also be played at the Consol Energy Arena on Monday, May 16. During the regular season, Tampa Bay won its only game at Consol Energy Arena, so expect them to play with a lot of confidence in this matchup. Tampa Bay fans making the trip to the Consol Energy Arena can find great travel options and deals on Hipmunk. On Hipmunk, hotels in Pittsburgh start at $69. Flights to Pittsburgh, from Tampa Bay, start at $651. Given these options, fans should lock in their travel arrangements now.

5/17/16 Game 2: Western Conference Finals I Scottrade Center I Get-In: $157

Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals will be played on Wednesday, May 18. Fans heading to this game can expect to pay slightly lower prices than Game 1. For Game 2, ticket prices start at $143. These two teams had not met in the playoffs since the 2001 Stanley Cup Playoffs, so fans will hope to see a new rivalry formed between these two clubs. Fans traveling to St. Louis for Game 2 can find travel options on Hipmunk, which has hotels in St. Louis start at $51. Flights to St. Louis, from San Jose, start at $841.
