New Jersey Fans Respond To Florida’s President Michael Yorkman Blaming Them For The Rat Tossing

from the Star-Ledger,

Yormark tweeted Monday afternoon that the Panthers will stop selling toy plastic rats at home games because fans were throwing them on the ice during play. Yormark tweeted, “Panthers will not sell rats at pantherland. This is a result of visiting fans throwing rats on the ice during the game.” ...

A user called cj225devs wrote, “Are you serious bro? You sound like a complete and utter moron!” to which Yormark responded, “get off twitter.”

Another Devils fan, with the handle LaurenAshley07 tweeted at Yormark: “@PanthersYormark is making an ass of himself and the organization.” Yormark responded by saying, “@LaurenAshley07 you have 70 followers. No one cares what you think.

Yorkman sniping back is sad. He comes off pretty childishly.

The Devils will be giving out real rats to the first 10,000 fans tonight.

They’re also sponsoring a new health awareness initiative in light of Mayor Corey Booker’s decision to reduce the police on Mulberry Steet after games.  It’s called “run to your car as fast as possible after the game.”

As President of this team, not only is he in charge of rat control, he’s in charge of alienating potential customers.  Just what you want the head of your franchise doing.  Where does he find the time?...oh yeah, it’s Florida.

At least idiots on Twitter are limited to 140(?) characters. After reading some of the doctoral dissertations over on the Wings blogs in the past few days, I am definitely seeing that in a more positive light.

“LaurenAshley07 you have 70 followers. No one cares what you think.”

That is hilarious to me, the only way it could have been better is if he responded “IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK..IF YOU SMELL….

Probably not what a team president should be saying to an NHL fan, but I think people take things way to seriously.

Yorkman looked bad after his original stupid statement.  He looks far worse with the childish tweet replies.

Honestly?  I didn’t have a single thing against Florida before, but I now sincerely hope the Panthers go down in flames.  How does an exec get the idea to come off high and mighty when the team you work for is the Florida Panthers anyways?

Okay, time to fess up: which of you hijacked the guy’s twitter account?

It’s inconceivable to me that somebody who’s in an executive position in a public-facing business would act this way.  Maybe he has a 12-year-old son who got tired of shouting homophobic slurs into XBox Live and decided to pick up dad’s mobile and spew on twitter.

This is the dumbest issue to arise this playoff.

Honestly?  I didn’t have a single thing against Florida before, but I now sincerely hope the Panthers go down in flames

As for this having any bearing on whether to support the Panthers or not is beyond me.
