NBC earned a combined 1.3/3 overnight Nielsen rating for regional coverage of Rangers-Devils and Avalanche-Stars on Saturday, the net’s first Stanley Cup Playoff coverage under its new NHL deal, down 18.8% from a 1.6/4 for ABC’s comparable coverage in ’04. NBC drew a 1.5/3 overnight for Rangers-Devils, and a 1.1/3 for Avalanche-Stars.
For Sunday’s coverage, NBC earned a 1.5/4 for Game Two of Oilers-Red Wings and Sharks-Predators, down 13.3% from ABC’s comparable coverage on the first Sunday of NHL playoff action in ’04. Oilers-Red Wings earned a 1.6/4 overnight, while Sharks-Predators posted a 1.3/3.
