from Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun,
Let’s present the case for acquiring Toronto Maple Leafs pivot Nazem Kadri, who would most definitely fit the criteria.
Kadri is a hard-nosed player with plenty of skill.
Although he’s coming off a bit of a down season by his standards, he still recorded 16 goals (including five game-winners) and 44 points in 73 games – numbers that would have left him sixth on the Jets in scoring.
Kadri is a two-time 30-goal scorer and has 161 goals and 357 points in 561 NHL games.
He’s produced offence at a consistent level and he’s also a major pain in the behind to play against....///
The Maple Leafs aren’t going to give him away and the deal could be a tad complicated.
But what about a package that involved Jack Roslovic?
He’s shown flashes with the Jets, producing nine goals and 24 points in 77 games last season.
Roslovic wouldn’t likely to be riding shotgun with his old U.S. National junior team linemate Matthews, but he could work himself into regular work on the third line and eventually grow into a top-six role.
The other thing to consider here would be Trouba, especially if the defenceman would consider signing an extension.
