“This is really important. If your best players are your best players by the way they play the game and not just because they have skill, then everyone is forced to follow,” said coach Ken Hitchcock, who deserves credit for demanding that Nash become more than a scoring threat. “If Peyton Manning is his team’s best athlete, great, but if he doesn’t play a team game — make everybody else feel valuable — then they never can have success. The same with us.”
The evolution of Nash reminds Hitchcock of Mike Modano’s transformation under the coach’s tutelage in Dallas.
