Name That Sabres Blog

As the Buffalo Sabres were preparing for their 1970 entry into the NHL, owners Seymour and Northrup Knox ran a contest for fans to vote for the name of their new team.

In the spirit of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the franchise, we’re doing something along those lines here at KK.

Come up with a name for the new Sabres blog coming to KK next month.  If your idea is selected you’ll win some modest but cool prizes:

-  $10 gift card for the online NHL store (shop.nhl.com)
-  $10 gift certificate for icejerseys.com
-  Your creation adorned on the pages of KK, and mention of your name and how creative and cool you are

You must be a registered member of KK to win - registering is free and easy. Registered members can comment on any site posts, and also are invited to try to win prizes by participating in ‘KK Challenges’ that Paul occasionally runs.

There are two ways to submit your entry - as a comment to this post, or, if you don’t wish to divulge your fine creation to everyone on KK, send a message on twitter.

If we choose a name that was submitted by multiple people, then a random drawing from those specific entries will be held.  In the event that we don’t use any of the names submitted, a random drawing from all entries will take place.

Deadline for entries is 8/26/10 at 11:59 p.m. ET.  Good luck.

Live by the Sword

I can’t even believe there isn’t already a Sabres blog with that name (although maybe people are trying to avoid the religious overtones)!

Gil Perreault was a tap dancer for the Buffalo Sabres.

I’ve never seen the man play but, jeebus, the man can dangle and deke with the best of them today.

Anyway, I submit “Eleven on the Roulette Wheel.”

Nice. Especially for the 40th anniversary year, a tip to an old great is very appropriate.

JJ, I believe Sabre Rattling is already used for Sabres blog or column.  Or at least it was at one point.

Sadly, so is Sabres Edge.

How about “Ruff And Ready”?

Welcome to KK.  Being neighbours with Buffalo, I’ve had quite a lot of great times in the city.  Most of them are unpublishable here.
