Murray Hit On Franzen Last Night

I’ve returned from Mother’s Day dinner with relatives to see the Douglas Murray hit on Johan Franzen has hit the web.

Your thoughts?

added 8:31pm, for a different angle of the hit, watch the San Jose broadcast clip at Sharkspage.

Let me preface by saying I am a fan of neither team, and in fact don’t like either of them.  I’ve watched the replay plenty of times and sorry to say it wings fans but the primary contact was with his shoulder, if he did hit his head it was only because hsi head whipped over in reaction to the hit on the shoulder.  I just don’t see the primary contact as being the head at all which is really what they’re looking for in head shots, they’re not looking for hits where the guys head incidentally gets hit after the initial major contact unless a guy has his elbow up or has jumped to hit his head.  On the other hand the hit was definitely late and could have been called interference as he clearly saw the puck passed before he made his move to hit Franzen, it’s not like he was already headed for him at that point.

Right…what I meant was that no matter what Wings fans say on here, anti-Wings people say it’s whining or complaining, even if it’s legitimate and backed up by facts.  I wouldn’t expect a Pens fan to understand what it feels like to have a legitimate beef to bring up though, as I have literally never seen a serious game changing call go against them.  Way to address a single point I made though.  I’m done in here.

Franzen is not only heading straight toward Murray, but he’s looking at him.  Doh!  How the heck do you not see Murray, the guy is huge!

Sorry, but it’s not a blindside hit if Franzen’s looking right at the guy who is about to unload the hurtin’.  And in general, just because the head is hit, it doesn’t mean it was the principle point of contact.  The headshot rule is to prevent BLINDSIDE hits that target the head as the #1 objective.  This wasn’t that way.

You’re absolutely right.  Officiating is perfect all around the league…except when Detroit is involved.  Then every single call is part of some big plan to keep them from winning the Stanley Cup…four times in twelve years.  Or going to the Finals two years in a row.  Or winning 44 games with the second most injured team in hockey this year.  It’s all a conspiracy.  Last night’s “blindside” hit with an flying elbow off the top rope to Franzen’s temple is just a microcosm of your team’s first early playoff exit since, what, 2006.

How dare I laugh at you’re sniveling.

Haha.  Oops…sorry.

Yeah, what he said.

I bolded the part that you might have missed when you so cleverly reposted somebody else’s sentiment after rubbing the series loss in Wings’ fans faces while calling them whiners and using the phrase “go piss up a flag pole”.  There’s not an ounce of grace in your entire post.
