Multi-Year Extensions For Kevin Cheveldayoff And Paul Maurice In Winnipeg

Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce today they have agreed to terms with General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff on a multi-year contract extension.

Cheveldayoff was named General Manager of the Jets on June 8, 2011, eight days after the franchise relocated to Winnipeg from Atlanta, and has held the position ever since. The Jets have posted a winning record in five of his six seasons as General Manager, including winning 40 games last season (40-35-7) for the second time in three seasons.

Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce today they have agreed to terms with Head Coach Paul Maurice on a multi-year contract extension.

Maurice, 50, joined the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 12, 2014 and has accumulated a 136-112-33 record in 281 games. Maurice, who coached in his 1,300th NHL game on Nov. 13, 2016, has earned a career NHL coaching record of 596-569-200 after 1,365 games between the Carolina Hurricanes/Hartford Whalers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets. He has also coached in 53 NHL postseason contests and owns a record of 25-28.

Not sure baffling isna word that comes to mind.  Overall theyve been good and made good moves.  Teams have to learn how to win.  Is what it is.  You cannot skip this step but you have to be able to see if theyre learning by improvements.  Weve got that in the Peg.  Good call to stay the course.

playing .500 is not an accomplishment. Yes, they have acquired talent but a good deal of that has come because they were in the position to draft high. The end goal is to make the playoffs with regularity and win Stanley Cups. They haven’t come close to that yet. This could have waited to see how they perform this season.
