Let’s start the morning with a Derek Morris update.

From the calls we’ve made, we believe Boston, Washington and Philadelphia are the three Eastern Conference contenders in the mix for the right-handed defenseman.

Morris, who has a blast from the point, has a no-trade clause, but gave the Phoenix Coyotes a list of Eastern Conference teams in order to facilitate a move. He’s an unrestricted free agent July 1 and could be a nice addition to all three of those teams; he’s a real physical player and provides veteran leadership. Stay tuned.
