“We got no respect tonight.  Maybe if we start winning games, we’ll get it. Maybe it’s a young coaching staff and they’ve got an older coaching staff. Maybe it’s their players—their veteran guys versus our non-veteran guys. I have no idea. But it’s tough for guys to prepare for a game and then it’s taken away from you.”

-New York Islanders coach Jack Capuano after losing to the Devils Saturday night.  More from Mike Mazzeo at ESPN New York.

NYI still playing the no respect card? Getting old.

Can’t imagine why there’d be a lack of respect for the Islanders (cough Trevor Gillies cough).

If there is any lack of respect… i think that it is well earned don’t you Mr. Snow?

You should really watch the game before commenting or you come across as an ignorant Pens fan trolling for any Islander news. The fact that the NHL is investigating and that it involve Auger should be enough to let you know there is some merit.

It’s so easy and fun to picture Capuano doing Rodney Dangerfield’s schtik on a stage.

Any team that makes Matt Cooke look relatively clean should not whinge about a lack of respect.

It’s more the like the old boy who cried wolf… There maybe some merit there, but its hard to feel sorry after the recent past.  Sounds pretty much how everyone felt towards the Pens after they were jumped, attacked, assaulted, and taunted by members of the NYI.

Russian Rocket’s right on that one.  Even if there is merit, it doesn’t matter when you have the history the Isles have with “respect”... All I heard was a big waaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

Coming from the team with the most penalties in the league and a player banned for 10 games (cough Godard cough) as well, I find all of the crying pretty funny, especially for a team who has a rep as whiners (cough Crosby cough) themselves.  Cry wolf means you cried multiple times before when nothing has happened, didn’t see Capuano complain before last night or when he made something up. When you have players known for attempted crippling (cough Malkin cough, cough Cooke cough) on multuple occasions and your owner wakes up only atter it happens to his team, that is a lot more akin to crying wolf.

Funny how every single Islander that was suspended this season wasn’t even on the team last year when they had a no fighting mandate from the owner and were recklessly targetted.  Now they are the goons of hockey after one incident, but the Bruins were just playing old time hockey.  Remember in today’s NHL not being suspended doesn’t mean you are innocent. Amazes me how some of the same people commenting here complain every time Paul post’s about the Penguins as if they are being targeted, talk about whiners and feeling they aren’t respected.  Don’t like any company?
