“I said, ‘What did you say?’
“He said, ‘f—- off.’
“I said, ‘Say it like you mean it.’
“He said, ‘F—- OFF!!!!’ ”
“I said, ‘YOU GOT 10!!’ ”
“He said, ‘Thank you’ and he went up the hall, happy as a pig in sh—.”

I just ordered the book, and I’ll be curious to see if Kerry makes any mention of an IHL game he worked in Saginaw in 1973. It was that season’s home opener for the Saginaw Gears, the opponent was Dayton, and it may have been Kerry’s first professional game as a referee. Anyway, this was a wild time in the ‘I’ and Kerry lost all control of the game. Saginaw coach Don Perry and owner Wren Blair both were on the ice going after him, as was Dayton coach Tommy McVie. Both penalty boxes were destroyed and the Saginaw Police Department had to send four or five extra cars to the Saginaw Civic Center. I’ve still got the press clippings.
‘Looking forward to reading the book.
