Morning Line

The NHLPA needs to win the fight from within. It needs to stick with the process, avoid easy answers and find a new, fresh, energized, focussed leader, one tied to this sport and tomorrow, not some other sport and yesterday

Cox has been a real idiot lately. Well, more so than usual anyway. First, he abandons all his journalistic integrity (if he really had any left) and essentially says he thinks Jose Bautista is juicing. Oh, but he does it on his blog, so that means it’s “okay.” So next time you wonder why bloggers don’t get respect, this is why.

Now he posts this shit. It continually amazes me how little the Canadian media seems to know about baseball.

A fresh leader with a background in hockey would be great for the NHLPA—in three or four years after a new CBA is hammered out and the game is back on a steady course. But the next three or so years absolutely require a leader that knows how these things work. If Cox would lose the self-righteousness about hockey he’d realize that this isn’t really a hockey issue. The PA needs someone that knows how it all works outside the lines—and Fehr is as good as it gets. It is one-billion-percent irrelevant if Fehr knows what a hip check is.

Is Cox talking about Bettman and his NBA connection?
