This is a terrific deal for the Blues who had been in the hunt for Miller for months. Halak has a wonderful record (29-4-4, 2.23 avg, .917 save percentage), but the perception is he’s not as good as Quick, for sure. If the Blues are to get out of the logjam in the West, they are going to need a goalie who can match saves with Crawford and Niemi (both Cup winners) and Hiller, too. They are stacked on defence with three Olympians (Jay Bouwmeester and Alex Pietrangelo on the Canadian team and Kevin Shattenkirk on Team USA) and up front they have five Olympians (David Backes, T.J. Oshie, Patrik Berglund, Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko).
