To be fair - and I’ve always thought this - I think the odds of Callahan being gone are much greater than Girardi leaving. Think of it as another Brandon Prust situation. The Rangers want - and need - to bring Callahan back but it seems obvious that he’ll attract more on the open market than they’re willing to commit. Also, consider the way Callahan plays - and he turns 29 on March 21 - his body is more likely to break down before the end of a long-term deal. Heck, there are signs his body is already starting to break down.
