It’s laughable stuff for alert Toronto sports fans, who probably thought they’d experienced the living pinnacle in human hubris and ego when they lived through four years of Brian Burke. A little more than two weeks’ worth of (Tim) Leiweke suggests that, in the cultivation of executive arrogance, the new guy in town is intent on scaling new heights.

-Dave Feschuk of the Toronto Star.  If you haven't been following the story since Leiweke did an interview with Bloomberg, you can read more from Feschuk.

What’s the point of this article? What’s wrong with having goals and being positive? Typical Toronto.

If I produced work of this quality I would get fired - this Feschuk’s guys a joke

Only could the Toronto media turn one of sports best CEO’s into a negative. They wonder why no one wants to play for these teams. Montreal only drafts Russians and Americans, to avoid the media scrutiny. Devouring your home team is not passion. Wait until the Vancouver media eats up torts. With cherry chiming in it will be a blood bath. Sounds like fun…

This is the way Tim Leiweke rationalizes banishing photographs of Toronto’s championship-rich hockey history from the vicinity of the home dressing room at the Air Canada Centre.

“Getting rid of the pictures in the hallway leading to the locker room is not disrespectful to ’62, ’63, ’64,” Leiweke told the Star’s Cathal Kelly this week. “But for our players, I don’t want any more excuses for them or us. This has to be about a new tradition.”

Funny, the opposite works and got us six SCFs, four Stanley Cups, and a 22-year playoff streak in Detroit.

It’s laughable stuff for alert Toronto sports fans,

Obviously critics of this article aren’t alert fans. Otherwise, you’d agree. I guess.
