The current season will land in the middle of this mediocrity. The Blue Jackets, with last night’s winning-time 3-2 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at Nationwide Arena, “improved” to 30-35-8.
They are, with nine games remaining, on pace for 77 points and a winning percentage of .469.
I am not trying to be negative. I am not trying to laden the present team with the entire weight of the organization’s history. I am just pointing at the standings and the scoreboard. The view does not change for any appreciable span of time.
There are a select few who understand the masochism that is involved in buying season tickets, year after year, and actually paying for this product. What has been the dollar-per-point payoff for those who have had personal-seat licenses when Nationwide Arena threw open its doors? Someday, maybe, they will receive payback for their passion.
Meantime, it is a springtime in Columbus like so many others, and we await management’s exit meeting. Last year, it was full of empty promise....
