The Bruins were outshot 38-21 by the Canadiens in a game where Montreal controlled the pace, flow and possession of the puck seemingly at will. Perhaps Cam Neely’s prediction on Bruins Media Day that the team will get better as the season moves along will prove to be prescient. But this is today’s reality: Boston has faced two playoff teams from last season in its first two games of the new year and any carefree training camp optimism has been stripped away by the harsh reality the Bruins just aren’t good enough to compete with the big boys right now.
