"Mr. Jacobs makes a marvelous chairman because he's able to see all sides and corners of the table he sits at, and he has an understanding of all of those things. I think many owners, especially new owners, rely on him to answer some of their questions. He's been very good at it, and he's earned the position.
"He's a big part of the growth of this League. He's been a terrific sounding board for Commissioner [Gary] Bettman all these years. He has foresight, and he's able as well as anybody in the League to look at the big picture as it involves expansion or rules or such delicate items as the Olympics, things like that. He's well versed and well aware of every piece of business that goes on in this League."
-Harry Sinden on Jeremy Jacobs. Dave Stubbs of NHL.com has more on this topic (Jacobs goes into the HHOF on Monday).

Hoot, I agree with you totally. Jacobs is almost as big a hoodlum as his father was. Louie was so mobbed up, he ultimately did time for it.

My guess is this is a puff piece as Jacobs gets sent to be inducted into the HOF (I just threw up in my mouth typing that). I believe the ceremony is next Monday ???
Jacobs joins that other illustrious “builder” ....Gil Stein, who was inducted after being commish for like 15 minutes.
That Hall and it’s process for selecting members and secret ballot voting is a JOKE….

Gary Bettman wrote an article about his friend “Jerry” for NHL.com, too.
Jacobs’ tentacles extend to many NHL rinks via his Delaware North Foodservice group, and yes, he was one of the hardest-line owners during the last two lockouts. He doesn’t like the fact that players have guaranteed contracts and he’s stated that he believes under-performing players should be demoted to the AHL.

Jacobs (and Snider RIP) has done everything he can to ruin the league for profit. He helped orchestrate the last 2 lockouts, and should not be honored by the league as a hero.
